Side Bars

Hello, i am just a user of a site that uses smf 1.1.11, hopefully a simple answer to this.

When i go to the site, the 2 side bars shows user login on left recent posts etc on right are there, but when i log in they disappear, just showing the center main page posts, I registered a dummy user account and it is fine (both side bars shown), side bars hidden on any device I log in with my normal account so must be a user profile setting somewhere, but find it anywhere in user profile settings and cant find anything with web searching.

Has been ok for years, but some setting has just changed to hide them or clicked on in error

I have emailed the admins of the site, but no reply yet, just though i would try here -)

Hello Aeryn....

well, first and foremost, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do.  It sounds like the admin of your site is using a portal mod and has it configured to do what you describe. However, we have no contact with or control over the sites which use our software (we don't host anything but our own site.)  Sorry.

However, what you posted also has a big red flag --- 1.1.x is at end of life. The admin of the site you mention is literally over a decade behind in updates, including major security patches.


So -- if you do get in touch with the site admin, please ask him to update -- for the security of the users, if nothing else.

they are using portal mod - Tinyportal

I understand you have no control over individual sites, i will await a reply from them, i thought i would ask here, just in case there was a setting i was missing -), just odd it only effects my normal account

It has been mentioned a few times about the age of it, i will prod them again
