Following the successful upgrade of my test forum, I'm now starting to play with 2.1 in anger :). Which no doubt means I'll have a stack of questions before I migrate our live forum over.

Is the Curve theme the only supplied theme now, with the Core theme from earlier SMF versions now removed?  Presumably due to the responsive bit?

Had a quick look on the mod site, can't really see anything similar to the old Core theme for 2.1

Antechinus

Yep, there is only one default theme supplied. If you want something different you'll need a custom theme.

Steve

Use the filters on the left side of the page to see only 2.1 themes. Those are the only themes available at the moment. However you will see themes for 2.1RC3 etc. To eliminate that, click 'Toggle List' next to 'SMF Versions' on the left side. Check the 2.1.1 box and then scroll a bit and click apply filters.

Now you will see the 23 themes currently and completely compatible with 2.1.1.

Thanks all.

The colour changer for Curve mod mostly does what I want.  I don't think I'm clever enough yet to do a whole theme.

There was a time I wasn't clever enough to build mods, then I tried it, and kept on trying it. Give yourself time and space and you will get there.

When I first started adminning a forum I had literally never heard of PHP or CSS.

Kindred

LOL!   I learned PASCAL and C (and then C++) by purchasing an open-source dial-up BBS software back in the 80s and then reading other people's modifications of the spaghetti code that was used...

... Ended up doing the same for php when I started with SMF.

I still frequently use google to look up fancy HTML, CSS and php functions when I'm trying to do something

So, it's definitely possible to learn on the job (as it were)

Give it time.

Hello,
I am also not familiar with php and just wanted to ask for help.

The forum is on the latest smf version using standard curve theme.

The only change I need is to use one wide image as a header and not a combination of title (with link to starting page) and a header image as it comes by default.

I managed to modify the index.template.php file in order to delete the title section.
From the optical point of view anything is ok.
Yet the image I display does not work as a link to the start page.
Probably this is a minor issue for any of you professionals?

You cannot view this attachment.

What I changed: delete <h1>-section as shown in the Beyond-Compare-Image.

How can I add a link to the startpage for the header image?

Here are the relevant codes:

1. Full version (default)
echo '
<div id="header">
<h1 class="forumtitle">
<a id="top" href="', $scripturl, '">', empty($context['header_logo_url_html_safe']) ? $context['forum_name_html_safe'] : '<img src="' . $context['header_logo_url_html_safe'] . '" alt="' . $context['forum_name_html_safe'] . '">', '</a>
</h1>';

echo '
', empty($settings['site_slogan']) ? '<img id="smflogo" src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/logo.png" alt="hinterkaifeck.net" title="Hinterkaifeck.net">' : '<div id="siteslogan">' . $settings['site_slogan'] . '</div>', '';

2. Modified version using only 1 wide header image
echo '
<div id="header">
';

echo '
', empty($settings['site_slogan']) ? '<img id="smflogo" src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/logo2.png" alt="hinterkaifeck.net" title="Hinterkaifeck.net">' : '<div id="siteslogan">' . $settings['site_slogan'] . '</div>', '';

You don't need to change anything. The text title will automatically be replaced by a header image if you just put the url of the image into the input box on the Current Theme page in admin. :)

Logo image URL: (blank to show forum name or default logo)

@Antechinus
Thanks, I will try that.
Did not think of such easy way  :D

I came to the same conclusion. Bonus is that all mods work without manual edits to compensate for a custom theme.

Where can I find that color changer?
I run 2.0.19 with green Curve, wanna do the same with 2.1.2, if possible.
