Vincent Volmer

Great! Thanks for the update. I'll look at it tomorrow.

Vincent Volmer

Thanks for the update.

I found 2 things not working correct.
(1) old issue;
Quote from: Vincent Volmer on February 12, 2013, 01:26:28 PM
Issue is, when I 'Like' an article it does not 'Like' the article ( in our case: digiscrap.nl/articles/overig-digitaal-scrappen/digiscrap-dutch-choice/65 ) but it Likes the website only (digiscrap.nl) on Facebook, not the article. Tweet on Twitter works OK!

Can this been fixed?

And the other issue;

I add an category description and save it. When I edit the category again the description disappears. This issue was also present in the previous version of SMF Articles. Sorry, didn't told you that.

I hope you can fix this too.

Thanks, Vincent

Kindred

do note....  the category description is in the database.   It just does not get read out to the edit page

Thanks for the update and fixing. The like button is still not working correct. It "likes" the URL of the website instead of the article URL.
btw... I'm using pretty url's. I don't know if that is important in this case.

It appears I'm running an outdated version of the mod and I'd like to upgrade.

Can I just install the new version on top of the old one or will I need to uninstall the old version first? Also will I lose any of my articles in the process?

Kindred

you need to uninstall first.
no, you will not lose existing articles

I have a problem that I'm trying to figure out with this mod (please excuse the 'repeat' if this has already been brought up). I can't seem to get the ratings to show for everyone. It will be there for me (admin) but won't show for regular members to be able to rate the article? I have the enable ratings box checked off and permission set for everyone so not sure what is going on. I did upgrade to the latest version also. Any suggestions? I might just be overlooking something simple........Thanks

Under Admin -> Permissions -> Modify the membergroup then find the SMF Articles permission section and modify it there.

Thank you for your reply. I checked my permissions and group category and it all seems to be ok but I still can't get the rating boxes to show for anyone but me? As I mentioned I do have 'enable ratings' checked in the settings and have the latest version. Do you think uninstalling and then reinstalling might help?

I think I was a little behind in applying updates for this! I was still using 1.2.1!

Nice to see the RSS feed added, That's a great feature.

Hi VbGamer

I run 1.1.18, and on my test forum, Articles installed beautifully, and administration was intuitive...plus it added a feature that makes great sense....so congrats

I'm beginning to learn more about the plumbing of SMF, so I would like to know exactly how this mod affects the "plain vanilla" coding of SMF.

I know little php, so a "high level understanding is what I am looking for. ie, what SMF files are modified and what files are added and where.

Also, what happens when the mod is uninstalled, does it remove the coding that was initially modified and the files originally installed?

I expect the design principles would be the same for all mods, so any kind of insight you might be able to provide me with would help me on the road

The answers are important to me before I start rolling the mod out to another live forum because I don't want to wreck it and I want to know how to reverse it should I want to

On the mod page itself you can see the exact files the mod edits and code it changes.

Or you can upload the file to my package parser to file the files it edits

Sorry VB, I must be dense or something

on the mod page itself  http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1354  I do not see it the files it mods ot codes it changes, and I cannot find it on any Articles page from a menu at SMFhacks.com

By downloads you would click the "Manual Install Instructions for SMF "

Thanks VB because it sent me to check out my server files where I decided I should manually delete the articles folder

Now when you uninstall the mod,  does it actually reverse the changes to the files made on the install, comment them out etc?

I see (from going onto my server) that, for example, the first file ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php, was modified today when I uninstalled

Am I to assume that I can simply delete the backup version because it held the code used by Articles...and the same for the utf backup, and I guess all those shown in the parser?
