I'll try it.  For now I just edited the news item and diddled the css to make it fit in the box.  Thanks.

Hi,
i have some problems with responsive and a iphone 12 pro max. On this phone the Forum is shown in normal mode but not in reponsive. What i have to change in reponisve.css ?

SychO

That's weird, try changing in response.css all occurrences of

min-width: 425px

to

min-width: 428px

erkman77

at first thanks for your time, tried this with 428 but it dosent work

SychO

I don't really know then, I have no idea how that model behaves.

You could try bigger values and see what works

Love the theme, is it possible to make the avatars square instead of circle? All the ones I try to upload become squash and out of shape.

SychO

Look for .avatar in the css, it has a border-radius of 100% and a set width and height,

I can't give more precise details as I don't exactly remember and I cannot check the code right now.

Having a problem with disappearing login and register buttons.  Both are gone when logged out, no way to login.  Same in Lazarus.  Lot of mods installed, don't want to uninstall/reinstall until we decide on a theme.  Any idea what to look for?

No, I have to switch to ?theme=1 to login.  I'm backing out the mods now, will see which one is causing it.  Theme works normally otherwise, just when you logout the two buttons aren't there.  You can see it here.  They're separate from the main menu array.  Is it a jquery thing?

<sigh>  Found it.  'Show a quick login on every page' must be enabled or the buttons aren't displayed.

Having a problem with images in phone view.  You can see it here.  Images in articles (below shoutbox) are squeezed horizontally, you have to click on them to restore aspect ratio.  It toggles back and forth.  Images display correctly in Curve in phone view.

Hey @SychO, freshly minted SMF admin here...just wanted to say I enjoy your themes, thank you for your work in creating and updating them.  Finding themes that aren't either super bright or almost black seems surprisingly challenging...this one looks like it could meet that need.

I have two (basic) questions:

1. Our site is running version 2.0.18; I see on the SMF themes page NightBreeze works with 2.0.17.  Is it a good idea to try to install this theme on this set up, or should we wait for an update specifically made for 2.0.18?  Or are there code mods I could make to the CSS/other files that could close any gaps for using NightBreeze with 2.0.18?

2. I saw a post that said you could use older version themes too, if you had the knowledge to adapt it to your SMF version.  Where would I get information on the differences between SMF versions, so we newbies can learn to ask fewer such questions going forward?

Thank you,

1. It'll work just fine, the patch updates make very little changes to template files, so most of the time themes don't need to make any updates. Now the patches since 2.0.15 seem to have made a few little template edits that should be incorporated in my themes, but they are very minor and non-breaking changes.

2. if you go to https://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/ and click on a patch title (not download) you'll see the changes made between versions, you can then look for template files present in the specific theme to see if it was changed and what was changed, but the template file has to be present in the theme, otherwise it doesn't matter.

There is no .bbc_image in index.css or responsive.css.

Sir Osis of Liver

Yes he does. :)  Looks like that fixes it in phone emulation, will have my guy check it on phone.  Thanks.

Hey SychO,

I borrowed your NightBreeze template to mash together a visual prototype of a color scheme my community is looking for, one that seems to be difficult to find among the many good templates we see here.

We'd brighten it using a yellow-colored (#ffff00) font for links, white-colored fonts for informational details, header links, etc. In posts, the background would be black-colored font on a light-blue (#DBF3FA) background.

Our challenge is that our community has a number of visually-challenged people, which is why we're looking for a theme that is mid-way between the strong contrasts we find in most themes that lay between bright (hurts the eyes), and dark elements-on-black (which causes eye fatigue, especially for members who use smaller devices in bright areas).

We would like to modify the color scheme of your NightBreeze theme to achieve this goal. Can you tell me first if:

- You are OK with us making this kind of color scheme modification (and before you have to ask, your copyright information will remain on it...we want to ensure you get credit for your great work)? We also would not distribute or share it without your permission...it is your creation with color modifications only.

- I am a CSS student, but a decently fast learner...assuming you are OK with this kind of modification, is this something I can reasonably expect to be able to do, or are there complexities that could cause major issues?  I plan on performing backups before starting each work session, and know to use the "inspect element" in the web browser to find each element I need to change.

- Any other thoughts you have on this idea (suggestions are welcome too)?

shadav

yes you can change it, so long as you leave the copywrites and things in place

it's not too difficult to do
this is one of my favorite themes and I've recolored it a few times
it's to the point that now I've actually made the theme to use variants
I plan on added some more colors later on, right now it's just green for the sites need and purple for one of the other admins
