I seem to be in the minority here with this upgrade ....

Used the " recommended that you update your forum " in the admin area ... tests said all ok, no errors when applied and received confirmation that upgrade completed.

Issues/Problems I am having ....

My Support Information screen is showing:

Version Information:
Forum version: SMF 1.1.1
Current SMF version: SMF 1.1.2

(detailed listing showing old versions)

- and -

the copyright tag is still displaying:
Powered by SMF 1.1.1 | SMF © 2006, Simple Machines LLC

The package manager is indicating that the updated is
also installed.

Pulling hair out since installer is telling me that all is "just peachy"
but no update is apparently taking place.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Lyn

You have described my problem also! Even after receiving confirmation that the upgrade completed, the version still shows 1.1.1.

Maybe I missed a step??

Do a detailed version check and see if the files themselves have been updated please.

Everything indicates that 1.1.1 is still in place:

Partial Listing:

Display.php   1.1.1   1.1.2
DumpDatabase.php   1.1   1.1
Errors.php   1.1   1.1
Help.php   1.1   1.1
Karma.php   1.1   1.1
Load.php   1.1.1   1.1.2

I'm having the same problem, I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the update through the package manager and now it's giving me this error:

An Error Has Occurred!
You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

I've double checked and the packages folder and all it's content are writable.

Edit**

Interesting I just tried doing the upgrade with the webinstall and it worked like a charm.

Yes, as indicated in original post, "(detailed listing showing old versions)"

I've been through the install/uninstall as well .. with no luck.  While I could
go through the upgrade/mod line by line as shown in package, would prefer
to use package manager.

Suggestions/Help/etc./Please  ;)

NOTE: I'm seeing several other problems being posted in the notice thread that are being responded to ... should I have posted there instead?  The original post said to use support area .. so I did (confused)

Thanks!!

This is the right area to ask for support. Announcement topics get messy to do support in.

If the package looks like it installed, but didn't, try doing an uninstall, then re-install. Hopefully it will work then.

If that fails, or you can't install the package at all for some reason, you might have to go get the small update package and do the upgrade manually. This will break mods that changed files you are uploading. You should uninstall your mods, then install them again after the upgrade.

Tried to use that option from the  View and Remove Installed Packages and received the error of:

This package cannot be uninstalled, because there is no uninstaller!

Please contact the mod author for more information.

Can see where this might apply, but do not have any mods installed .. am running a "virgin" copy of 1.1.1

Note:  Just used webinstall.php for the upgrade and now running 1.1.2

Awfully odd then. Haven't seen this before on my test sites, hopefully if this is a wider problem we can sort out the cause in time for the next update.

Since the install is vanilla, I'd recommend just doing a manual upgrade.

Performing the manual upgrade worked for me, but had the side effect of deleting my theme (Proton), which was rather unexpected.  I think, rather than this being an effect from SMF, it was something my FTP software did to "help" me.  Gah.

青山 素子

Ouch. What FTP program? (so people can avoid it)

Note that if you stuck that theme in one of the default theme directories (default, babylon, classic) then it is understandable.

ZorkFox

No, it was in its own directory: Proton1.
I was able to upload it again, without too much trouble.

The FTP software our office uses is called Interarchy.  And I know I have it set to overwrite automatically, because I do a lot of updating of Web pages and I hate to be asked each time I freshen something.  It could be that, since we're talking about directories here, it removed the entire Themes directory instead of just the things it was actually replacing.  Which is still bad.  ;_;

Also, one of my files, Profile.template.php is reading as being version 1.1.1.  I don't know how much of an issue that is.
The mediocrity of my thinking is concealed by the majesty of my language.

ZorkFox

Ahhh... I see that I should have set Interarchy to merge directories, rather than overwrite them.  Duh duh duh.

How many new version or update are you guy's coming out with?

I am having the same problem as everyone else here.  I do not want to do the manual upgrade because I have a lot of mods installed, and some of my mods will not uninstall correctly.  What do you guys suggest?

There is an option under packages in admin to set all file writable.

You can set this then do the update.

Make sure to put it back to only the common files writable after you finish updating all.

After the update you can manually edit each mods package-info.xml to include install and uninstall for 1.1.2

Or you can make smf think its an older build to show them back up..

;version_emulate=1.1

as post suggests Here!

Just did this, still did not update forum.

Unfortunately SMF can not detect if you have current mods installed that modified parts of your site that the upgrade needs to repair.
You will have to uninstall those mods.
Most likely if you are running Advance Visual Verification (AVV) you will need to uninstall it due to captcha fixes in 1.1.2

I had this problem also with multiple forums, upgrading manually works but I hope the root cause as to why it's saying it upgraded when it did not can be fixed, thanks
