Title: All At Ones and Twos (1x vs 2x)
Post by: YogiBear on January 04, 2010, 01:00:51 PM
I'm on the brink now of starting my own forum and keen to use the latest v2.0 RC2 yet on support threads see members who say 1.1.11 is still the way to go.

Horses for courses I suppose but any personal opinions and recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thanks, Guys and Gals.  :)

i used 2.0 RC2 but I was just hacked so I am not too sure. 2.0 looks better and has many more features but its not as secure.

Your hacked was most likely a compromised account Calumnks. Or a compromised server. I'm not aware of any security issues for either version of SMF. However, which version you want to use is up to you Yogi. If you don't mind updating your forum and you're looking for more features. I would say 2.0 is the way to go. But if you want to leave your forum alone, and not worry about upgrading I would choose SMF1.1.11.
