UPDATE: Downloads are available again :)
--------
Dear users,
Simple Machines Forum has released an new patch to the 2.0.x release line. This brings our released version to SMF 2.0.7.
Unlike previous patches, this is a bug fix release, not a security release. This does not detract from the importance of installing this release. Although a number of other defects have been remedied, the primary update of this patch brings full compatibility for PHP 5.5, which is becoming a more common problem, as hosts are now beginning more widespread adoption.
Users of the 1.1.x versions should be aware that some of the issues which are fixed in 2.0.7 are still present in 1.1.x. Given some of the issues facing PHP applications on PHP 5.5+, providing full support for 1.1.x will not be entirely possible, as some of the features being deprecated from the standard PHP installation cannot be replaced either manually or in a patch in the 1.1.x line. In any case, 2.1 is in heavy development - once 2.1 is declared stable, 1.1 will be completely unsupported. As such, we would encourage you to consider migrating to the 2.0.x release line - we will offer what support we can to those preparing to upgrade.
If you are running version 2.0.6, you can update your forum to version 2.0.7 using the package manager. As usual, you should see the upgrade notification in the Admin panel and in the package manager, which will allow you to download and install the patch seamlessly. If you don't see the notification about the update, please run the scheduled task "Fetch Simple Machines files". You can also download the patch for 2.0.7 from the customize site (http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/) by downloading the : smf_patch_2.0.7.zip patch file, and then installing it from the package manager, like any other mod package.
If you use older versions of SMF, you can upgrade by using the full upgrade archive for version 2.0.7 from the downloads (http://download.simplemachines.org/) page. Be aware that using this upgrade method will require you to reinstall your mods with ones designed for the 2.0.x line
You can also view the change log for the latest release, as usual, on the downloads page (http://download.simplemachines.org/).
If you are having problems downloading the patch from the admin panel, you can download the package from the upgrade patches page (http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/) and install it like a mod, as instructed above.
Please refer to the Online Manual for more details about:
* upgrading (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Upgrading)
* patching (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Patching)
Please do not use this topic for support requests. You will receive a much quicker and better response by posting in the relevant support board!
Thank you for using SMF! :)
Regards,
Simple Machines Forum
Cool, thanks!
Thanks for the release note. Is there going to be a download link for a patch via the SMF feed (aside from the upgrade package)?
Currently the feed states SMF 2.0.6 as the current package.
Regards.
Good stuff for sure :)
Thanks
Thanks for the patch. PHP 5.5 isn't an issue for me yet, but may have been soon. Great work.

As ever this is updated on the usual 24 hour cycle within your forum (the fetch Simple Machines files task), so once that updates so too with the feed update.
Congrats on the release guys, good work :)
While testing the new version I noticed install.php and upgrade.php are both identifying as 2.0.6. Is that correct for this release?
define('SMF_VERSION', '2.0.6');
Regards,
Josh
No, it should be 2.0.7. Thanks for pointing that out!
Thanks guys for all your work!
Woot Woot!!
Every time SMF releases a new version, it makes me so happy. :')

This should be fixed now, apologies for the inconvenience and thank you for reporting it!
I got that pink error message telling me not to upload it because some files failed to be tested. I still did it anyways, is that bad? I mean like......if they failed...does that mean that the bugs that were fixed might still affect my forum?
Depends on the files I guess, but this is not a support topic. Please open a support topic in the 2.0.x support board for any support related questions.
Thanks :)
I did get it to, and a warning message from NOD32 Antivirus.
Is this a virus, or have you really made a new version?
I have 3 forums, and i only get the new version of the patch in one of my forums, in the other 2 it just displays the latest version is 2.0.6 that is the latest version.
A bit worrying...
NOD32 alarm give heds up for the image "something_went_wrong.png" seems to have with developer links to do???
OK, now i see, its Oldiesmann:s Avatar image that make the Antivirus program to block the image.

No, we really made a new version.
Sounds like a false positive from NOD32. Double checked to be sure with multiple scanners, I'm not getting anything suspicious.

OK, now i see, its Oldiesmann:s Avatar image that make the Antivirus program to block the image.
I emailed Eset almost 3 weeks ago asking that they whitelist my domain, complete with a scan log from ClamAV (server-side antivirus program). I guess it's time to go bug them some more. I've uploaded my avatar directly for the time being.
Sooo many installation errors... and they all need some thinking to fix.... :(
Nicely done, thanks!
OK, i have started i topic in the support forum.
If I am running with simple portal and other plugins, is it worth downloading just yet? I dont want my mods to be incompatible.
They are incompatible... at least from my preliminary analysis simpleportal is.
Alright thanks. I see I have to wait then :(
2.0.7 contains an error in QueryString.php on line 476:
$buffer = preg_replace_callback('~"' . preg_quote($scripturl, '/') . '\?((?:board|topic)=[^#"]+?)(#[^"]*?)?"~', create_function('global $scripturl; return \'"\' . $scripturl . \'/\' . strtr("$m[1]" . \'&;=\', \'//,\') . \'.html\' . (isset($m[2]) ? "$m[2]" : "");'), $buffer);
create_function takes 2 params, not one.
Do you guys has unit tests/functional tests to catch errors like this?
Thanks for the release :)

No, it should be 2.0.7. Thanks for pointing that out!
Missing 2014 year update too.
Thanks for this release.
All fixes appreciated, thank you.
Nice one guys, thanks.
I'm unable to download that patch file. The auto update at the package manager and the link on the page http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/ don't work here. Something wrong with the patch?
Dear users,
There *may* be two, separate, problems in the 2.0.7 update.
We're not sure yet, but as we wish to guarantee there will be absolutely no problems with your SMF installation, the roll-out of SMF 2.0.7 has temporarily been suspended.
We're, after all, better safe than sorry!
Please be advised that attempting to download any of the 2.0.7 packages, including the patch from the custom.simplemachines.org site, will temporarily result in either a empty download or a access denied error while we investigate.
Have you already upgraded your forum?
Do not worry. The potential problems are actually not of any damage to your forum, but merely result in a few errors potentially being generated.
You will *not* encounter any blocking bugs or have any security issues at all, just errors being generated. It is annoying, rather than actually dangerous. :)
However, if you want to because you do feel worried: You can, with one simple click, undo the SMF 2.0.7 patch by clicking the "Uninstall" button in the Package Manager next to the SMF 2.0.7 patch, that will revert your forum back to SMF 2.0.6.
Thank you.
We will have it back up later today.
Hello everyone,
The update is available again now! :)
Sorry for the annoying delay! :(
You can upgrade as per the instructions in the first post.
Did you upgrade before we released the fixed version of 2.0.7? You can uninstall the patch through the Packagemanager, delete it and then download & install it again. :)
Thank you for your patience and we do apologize for the minor problem!
I would like to thank the users reporting a (potential) problem and of course thank the devs for their awesome work of fixing it! :)
Thanks and enjoy!
And I'd like to thank everyone who did have patience, and a big shoutout to [SiNaN] who helped us with making it work better with SimplePortal.
Actually it's me who should be thanking Arantor. He saved me from the hassle of dealing with all those support requests that were to come. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks for update and fixed update :D
Thanks to everyone that was involved in solving the issues. :)
Thanks for the updated update!
Worked flawlessly on my SP installation.
Great job!
Thanks to the team for getting this out quickly.
I've just installed it (20.40 pm) and the copyright in the footer still showed 2.06.
It also still showed 2.06 in the Package Manager. I had to manually alter it to 2.07 to get Uninstall to appear.
When I did uninstall I got the warning message but uninstalled anyway.
Hi,
thanks for the update.
Just want to have a look at the changelog on the download page but it seems the changelog for 2.0.7 is still empty.

That means it was probably not installed properly and all the other changes would need to be added.

Yeah, there's times that can happen, usually when you don't have sufficient permissions to make it work.
But please note this is NOT a support thread - any support questions should really go into the 2.0 support board.
Well done guys, and thanks for all the hard work sorting this out.

Nope, it works absolutely fine on a fresh 2.0.6. You must have a mod that modifies how that file operates.
I absolutely don't get it. Ive downloaded the upgrade to bring my 2.0.6 installation up to 2.0.7 and I keep getting this
QuotePackage upload failed due to the following error:
"Although the package was downloaded to the server it appears to be empty. Please check the Packages directory, and the "temp" sub-directory are both writable. If you continue to experience this problem you should try extracting the package on your PC and uploading the extracted files into a subdirectory in your Packages directory and try again. For example, if the package was called shout.tar.gz you should:
1) Download the package to your local PC and extract it into files.
2) Using an FTP client create a new directory in your "Packages" folder, in this example you may call it "shout".
3) Upload all the files from the extracted package to this directory.
4) Go back to the package manager browse page and the package will be automatically found by SMF."
I've installed other packages without incident, I've checked and re-checked permissions (and even set writes for everybody at one point) and I still get this. Is this upgrade really functional or do I have to take my forums down and do a clean, ground-up reinstall using 2.0.7?
Can you tell I'm a bit frustrated?
Can you open a topic in the 2.x support board, about that, please, RCB? As has been noted, this topic's not for support. ;)
What caused the suspension?
Some rogue bugs in the patch, last minute things.

Well done everyone, thanks for the hard work. :D
I suppose that only ftp file reupload is sufficient for those who have used the packs and not the package manager?
Well, I'm stumped. :(
I have two identical servers both running Debian.
On one server the update goes just fine on all the domains and forums. On the other I get the "Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable" error.
I promise you, ALL the files and directories and *everything* in that directory are writable.
I've created a "temp" dir and set permissions and owner on it, but I cannot get past this message no matter what I do.
Any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out over this. :(

Nice work Team. Thanks SiNaN and Arantor that I don't have to changed anything on TP to make things work. :)
If TP didn't randomly declare its own db_query() function I wouldn't have had to modify the patch for that part ;)
Installed through the admin center in a couple of clicks (from 2.0.6.) thanks for the good work.
Looking forward to 2.1 too!

That should be long gone in TP 1.0 from what I remember. I think I removed that around that time anyway. Maybe I did it after TP 1.0 lol. I can't remember... Anyway, I know it shouldn't be in the code now. If it is, it's something I meant to remove but haven't yet.
Why on the:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/index.php?action=upgrade;file=smf_patch_2.0.7.tar.gz;smf_version=2.0.6
under:
"./Sources/Subs-Members.php"
first two operations are about the same part of code? Maybe its a mistake?
And on the same page, on the bottom there is:
'Code
fix_calendar.php"
That file was added?
Regards.
No, it's not a mistake. It's completely intentional. There was an issue with 2.0.6 whereby some users got a version of Subs-Members.php with the wrong version number. As you'll note from the file itself, it tries to update either 'version 2.0.1' or 'version 2.0.6' to 2.0.7.
As for fix_calendar.php, that is not a new file but a script to run on install to fix incorrect dates in the calendar and should be deleted once run.
Thanks for that great job.
Congrat.
And is it intended that SSI.php has in header "@version 2.0.4" ? Cause in my admin panel it's red, reporting that 2.0.7 is the current version of the file.
Well, the first change in the patch for SSI is to change that from 2.0.4 to 2.0.7... if that didn't happen I'd wonder what other things weren't changed. But as already noted before, several this, this is not a support thread.

I just downloaded the large upgrade and full install packages. In both SSI.php has "@version 2.0.4".
That, uh, would be because our master SVN repo doesn't seem to have been updated (since we build the patch first and then do everything else), and with the fun of pulling the update, it wasn't re-applied properly after.
I will get it dealt with.

I'm not saying anything, everything's fine (if I should throw a suggestion I'd always write near the packages the date of the latest update, so if I downloaded them before I know I need to redownload them). I was just laughing about the enthusiast comment above that had no problems upgrading.

I'm not saying anything, everything's fine (if I should throw a suggestion I'd always write near the packages the date of the latest update, so if I downloaded them before I know I need to redownload them). I was just laughing about the enthusiast comment above that had no problems upgrading.
The reason so enthusiastic, is I have 12 very modified SMF sites.
I had no issues, so yes, my post was very accurate and was expressing my thanks to the volunteers who did the good job of doing the update, and the fix.
So, before you start acting rude about posts and the way things are run, maybe thinking would be a good idea.
Well, thinking, I'd thank the developers for the release. The release PROCESS wasn't that good. Admitting a failure doesn't mean everything's bad. It's just a critic (constructive since I also suggested something: time of last update near packages). The style of my posts is arguable of course. But that's another thing.
Contrary to the sarcasm, a lot of people have successfully upgraded without any problems, because 1) most people are only doing the upgrade now - after the patch was fixed - and 2) the patch itself is known to update the files completely correctly.
As I said, there was an issue with SSI.php, and I said I would get it dealt with - and it is being dealt with. People think our site infrastructure is straightforward, that it's just a case of uploading a file... no it isn't. There's build processes, there's enforced strict permissions, and just for fun there's mirror sites to deal with too.
But yes, we are volunteers and that does limit what can be done and how quickly. If this bothers you, you should find paid software, only to receive the same quality of response with different words.
Okay you're volunteers but I'm saying there's something wrong about how this topic - for example - is handled. Instead of repeating every post "this is not a support topic" maybe a post to notify that packages were updated would have been more appreciated (and before SSI.php issue and after release suspended there has been another update of the packages). It was stated in support topics that packages have been updated, not here..
Other than the very first post saying that downloads are available again, you mean?

Hello everyone,
The update is available again now! :)
Sorry for the annoying delay! :(
You can upgrade as per the instructions in the first post.
Did you upgrade before we released the fixed version of 2.0.7? You can uninstall the patch through the Packagemanager, delete it and then download & install it again. :)
Thank you for your patience and we do apologize for the minor problem!
I would like to thank the users reporting a (potential) problem and of course thank the devs for their awesome work of fixing it! :)
Thanks and enjoy!
and this post that says it is available again
Quote from: Sir Cumber-Patcher on January 24, 2014, 10:49:47 AM
Other than the very first post saying that downloads are available again, you mean?
They were updated at least another time after that statement (which doesn't have a date except for the post edited time, which would also mean an edit for another reason). And then there will be another update for the SSI issue. The statement in the first post would still be valid (without references to date and reason of the update)?
@Illori: AGAIN, I'm not talking about the issue that caused the release to be suspended, I'm talking about this (which happened after): http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=517329.0
See? Even you don't know when packages have been updated :P
Why should we repeat everything here just because you think we should?
Again, still an edge case that will not affect most people.
If next week I change something in the installer to fix something else, and get the packages updated, do I have to tell you that I've done it? No, of course I don't.
Mind you, all of this shouting is somewhat academic because we both know that you staying on SMF is a temporary measure.
That's personal and it's not even an argument! Aaaand, it's not even true.. I'm still an active translator and I think I'll continue to use SMF in the future!
Funny, that's not the impression I got from you in the past... could have *sworn* you were only staying with SMF until something better came along.
But it's kind of the crux of my point: if you're not going to stay on SMF long term, complaining about people making minor mistakes is not really a major issue...
That's your weak point isn't it? No one is saying SMF is sh*t or you did a bad work. It's just a critic at the release process. Take the suggestions or don't, I won't cry.
Except actually, I did. I'm the one principally responsible for the original screw-up. If I hadn't screwed that up, pretty much everything else would have been absolutely fine.

I suppose that only ftp file reupload is sufficient for those who have used the packs and not the package manager?
Could i have an official confirmation on this part please? There are requests about this question, thanks.
NB: for those who aren't happy with a free forum about the problem which can have on certains releases...(bugs are always possible, only those who are doing nothing don't do mistakes), get out of here!
And go to see a (bugged too) paid one....(ipb, vbulletin etc...)
Nothing is perfect!
Well, considering that the large upgrade package is all about just doing the FTP thing... um, sure. If the upgrade package was still bugged with the original issue, we wouldn't have re-enabled it.
The only changes in the revised package, as far as content is concerned (not version numbers), are QueryString.php and Subs-Editor.php, which had 2 lines and 1 line changed respectively.
please remember to ask support questions in the proper support board and NOT IN THIS THREAD

Great news. With my host I can choose which PHP version I want, and can change this with a click of a button, so not a problem for me, but this is also good news.

I emailed Eset almost 3 weeks ago asking that they whitelist my domain, complete with a scan log from ClamAV (server-side antivirus program). I guess it's time to go bug them some more. I've uploaded my avatar directly for the time being.
It's not your avatar, it's your signature.
Also, perhaps you should ask ESET what they need in order to whitelist your domain... just providing your own account of CalmAV isn't much leverage.
Previously it was the avatar image, actually. Oh, and ESET have been asked on multiple occasions, I believe...

Yes, and not just forum admins but everyday users who might not have a clue they're using SMF. Still means a lot to them.
I have SMF 2.0 RC1.2
Should I patch or upgrade?
Thanks,
Sri.
Upgrade. Definitely...
Thanks, Bruno!
Sri.
Actually, you HAVE to upgrade. There are no patches to do the rc versions
And even if we went to the trouble of doing so, the amount of change means it either would be mostly manual changes to the theme, just replacing the theme files (thus negating any benefit of the patch anyway) and in probably any case would be so large it would choke the package manager.
Yes, update for simple machine..... Thanks. :)
Just upgraded to SMF 2.0.7 but can't Install the following Modification Packages:
Topic View Log
Activity Bar
Force Topic Read On Login Mod
Hide Tag Special
How can I install these mods to SMF 2.0.7 ?
If they're compatible with any post 2.0 Final release then you can most likely use the Advanced link in your package manager to emulate as an older version.
Thanks! :)

sounds like a general issue with the admin panel but you need access to the admin account [any account with admin access] to do any harm.
more details will not be provided by the team.
Thank you all so much for making our lives easy with the upgrade. As others have said, I truly appreciate all the effort and hard work you all put in on this project.

Doing it that way, it'll get rid of all your mods and any other customisations, and you'll end up with a fresh install. Wouldn't it be easier to use the upgrade patches from here http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/ and just install them via the package manager?
Of course it will mean installing all six patches, from 2.0.2 all the way up to 2.0.7 ;)
well installing mods is easy, the forum is on my localhost, so got only me to complain about downtime, wanna make it perfect before i release, you may see questions on hosts soon, unless i find one myself.

I would like to know this for myself as well. I'm also try to understand if we do need to upgrade (for security issues) or that is not an issue anymore. I keep reading about other people going back to 2.0.6.
My server has 5.3.27 . Does it mean that I cannot longer use SMF or ?? All I'm asking is for whoever knows what the problems or solutions are, just to give us a bit of help.
Kindred, could you please let me and other users know, what are we suppose to do if anything, with this 2.0.7 patch?
Can I just stay on 2.0.6 and wait for a 2.0.8? Will it ever be a 2.0.8 ?
Do I need to get in touch with Host and ask them to upgrade to a higher PHP version? (but what about those people still having problems with php 5.5.x)
Is something wrong with my setup maybe?
I also see lots of people not having any problems at all, and that just adds more confusion...
I'm one of those user who got the WSOD after installing the 2.0.7, and that in itself would have not been a big deal as you can still install mods in other ways. But I cannot get past all the other issues, like missing posts, mods stop working (not because of incompatibility), corrupted pages, missing pages. At first I thought it was a problem with my setup, but by reverting to 2.0.6 everything works beautifully again. I did try installing 2.0.7 three times, but not luck. Then when I began to read on this forum all the other members reporting problems after installing the 2.0.7, I said to myself. "Oh good, I'm not the only one having all those problems. Now they will definitely find what the problem is and move on...."
I'm happy to stay on 2.0.6 as it works flawless and again I thanks everyone who made SMF what it is today. I really enjoyed the past few years modding along...
Cheers
Burt
As noted in the original post, 2.0.7 has no security fixes.
It is required if your host is running php5.5
2.0.6 will continue to run fine on php5.3
2.0.8, if it is released, will probably require you to upgrade to 2.0.7 first, if you want to use the patch version.
Ok..then 2.0.6 it is...
Thank you
Burt
What will be in 2.0.8?

This is usually related to wrong theme paths (shouldn't happen in a clean install) or missing/inaccessible files...
Check the content of the folder Themes/default and all subfolders and check the files permissions/ownership.

I might do a shot in the dark here... But I honestly think that you guys are understanding the question wrong. I think he means to ask what the fix_calendar.php file does, which changes it brings and such...
Right?
And it's been answered in the other topic. Which emphasizes the point that this is not the topic for support.
Why don't you pick that as feedback on the fact the instructions on the site would require an improvement? That way it would not be a support question, it would fit this topic as well and you would make the person that asked the question happy (I'm pretty sure you know that nowadays "customer satisfaction" is one of the most important aspects when "selling" any thing).
Of course that's just my interpretation. ;)

:P Well, I see things differently there. To me support is solving problems. If you wonder what a file does, as in which changes it brings to SMF.. (as in, what parts of the changelog is due to that file) isn't support and could be posted here.
Welp, not going to have a page long discussion about this. It's clear that this is just different ways of thinking.
Trying to prepare for upgrade from 1.1.19 to 2.0.7
started testing with php 5.5 (Archlinux)
cannot use upgrade.php, not completely ported for use of the mysqli extension.
there is a mod for 2.0 for mysqli but at this time it will not be part of 2.0. 2.1 already supports mysqli by default. you could try manually applying the mod to your install and see if that helps.
link for the mod, plz
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3469
(or just edit Settings.php accordingly)
I have to say, updating from 1.1.19 to 2.0.7 is going to be a huge difference.
Yes.....
The upgrade.php is still not working.
So Plan B.
Migrate the database manually checking/converting upgrade_2_0_mysql.sql to normal sql's.
And copy the necessary source files and do the migration of mods separately
But I don't think you can use upgrade.php to update from 1.x to 2.0.7
Yes you can, but with the large upgrade package only. :)
I see. I thought SMF 1.0 and SMF 2.0 had too many differences.
They do. But the point of upgrade.php is to be able to move from one version to the next, it'd be daft if you couldn't.
You're thinking of why we don't have Package Manager patches between 1.1 and 2.0.
Hehehe, most likely. As a gamer, I see patches for updating version A to version B. I don't see patches for updating from version A to version Z.
If you catch my logic.
there are no patches form a -> Z... you have to do A -> B -> C ... -> Y -> Z
Is SMF 2.0.7 already stable release? im planning to upgrade mine

But the changes are significant and far-reaching in this release... so it's not something that you want to manually try - especially since the package manager patch can do it all automatically.
