Post by: babjusi on August 29, 2008, 07:01:30 PM
Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1366)

wrapper v0.1

What does this mod do?

This mod will wrapp up your forum. To have an idea of what I am taliking about, please see the screenshot attached at the mod link.

Note that the rounded corner effect will only will function properly for Firefox users. Whereas the wrapper will function normally for all browsers

Compatibility

This mod works for every version of the 1.1. serie and is compatible with 2.0 Beta 4 as well.

I updated the mod so now it can be enabled and disabled from the Acp of your forum-Features and options.

The screenshot looks kool, but it possibly doesnt work in dilber MC theme. I used the package parser to do the manual edits for both index.template.php and style.css of dilber MC theme.

This would be a good thing to make the page look kool. :)

I'm afraid I don't see any difference once installed. I'm using 1.1.4 with Firefox and TP. The mod installed without errors. Any ideas?

Thank you

Yes that did it, however the right TP blocks are not aligning correctly, the block row is half inside and half outside the wrapper and my menu tabs continue past the right of screen.

Hi there. It works with the dilberMC theme as well. I just tested it out and you can see the results in the screenshot that I will attach.

The dilber MC theme is coded differently from the default one. You must add the edits for the style.css to both files, the style.css and then to the style.css for the color that you are using. For ex I did it for the style_lightblue.css. Then make the manual changes required for the index.template.php file.

If you would like, you can attacj here the 3 files mentioned and I will make the edits for you :)

This is the screenshot attached how it looks with the dilber MC theme

It could be that maybe it is conflicting with some other mod. have you tried to ask at the dilber MC support topic?

I say this, because I tested my mod earlier this day in a fresh installed smf 1.1.5+ the dilber MC theme and everything worked fine as it is shown at the screenshot that I attached a few posts above :)

possibly.. the reg bar warning is kind of conflicting with the mod as it also gets wrapped up...

i dont know why is it happening with the banner.. and i more or less think that this is related to this topic so "maybe"  that Hoochie Coochie Man would take interest in here....

Can you un-install the regbar warning mod first and install it after the wrapper mod and see if that would make any difference?

At the moment no, the rounded affects will be displayed only in ff. However, if you want you can add rounded corners yourself to your default theme so they can be displayed with almost every browser. If you don''t know how to do that, let me know and I will guide you through.

ok can you show me please

Sure thing :)

Find in the index.template.php file. In the table where the header is defined:

Find:

<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
            <tr>
                <td class="catbg" height="32">';

Replace it with:

<table width="100%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
            <tr>
                <td align="left" width="38"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/leftsidecornerimage.jpg" /></td>
                <td class="catbg" align="center">';

Find:

<td align="right" class="catbg">

Replace with:

<td align="right" width="38"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/rightsidecornerimage.jpg" /></td>

Then upload to the /images/ folder the 2 rounded corner images named leftsidecornerimage.gif  and  rightsidecornerimage.gif that will appear at the top right and top left sides. You can rename them whatever you want.

And where says width="38", adjust it with the actual width of the images that you will create. I entered the value 38 as an example.

Hope it helps :)

Can you post a screenshot of  the linktree with the missing arrows?

can you try to change the background of the wrapper at the style.css, shadow and see if that would help. Because my mod doesn''t affect those areas in any way, shape or form :)

What version of smf do you have? Can you attach here the index.template.php file?

Hi. I too am having a problem uninstalling this mod. I ran the uninstall and got a 'hacker' error. Although the mod showed up as uninstalled, the mod was still having an effect on my layout. I have deleted the mod off my list of installed packages. I have the default theme. Any assistance would be great.

Cheers

What is the exact error that you got? Can you post a screenshot?

I received the url. However, if you want me to have a look at it I would need the admin log in info and probably the ftp log in info as well.

Edit: Now the mod is removed. For some reason when you uninstalled it through the package manager, it didn''t remove the codes from the files. I had to remove them manually. If you can confirm it that now is ok I would appreciate it :)

1.     Execute Modification     ./Themes/classic/index.template.php     Test failed
2.     Execute Modification     ./Themes/classic/style.css     Test successful

You are getting that failed message because it is looking for some code that probably is changed by another mod that affects the index.template.php file as well.

Anyway, the mod installs only for the Smf default theme. For other themes you must install it manually. Try to use the mod parser attached at the mod in the Download section :)

Yes, that or this other mod parser. Take your pick :)

But if you are uncomfortable with editing the file yourself, then you can attach it here and I will make the edits for you

I updated the mod so now it can be enabled and disabled from the Acp of your forum-Features and options.

@XchrisX, were you able to solve the problem?

Yes, as all the mods this works only with the default theme. To make it work with a custom theme some manual changes are required :)

Congratulations, SmokyBlue. This looks so nice. (Which I've said before)
Pity IE doesn't support it. Bad browser :P
You can use

-webkit-border-radius: 30px;

to make it work in Safari.
I.e:

.wrapper
{
background: white;
width: 95%;
color: #E5E5E8;
border: 1px solid #192B40;
margin: auto auto;
padding: 20px;
text-align: left;
-moz-border-radius: 30px;
-webkit-border-radius: 30px;
}

thanks! :)

however, if you would, please adjust yours a hair..

if you go here:

http://www.borwsershots.org, and try the screen size of 1024x768, you are overlapping with your forum.. by changing the width on the theme, you can get the forum back into controlled browser movement.  ;)

what is over laping ? and the site is not opening
Title: Re: wrapper
Post by: Smoky "Rider" Blue on April 18, 2009, 10:29:44 AM
hmm overlapping, meaning your forum is breaking bounds with the size ranges, making it look too big got the smaller screen sizes..

the most popular sizes today are still the 800 px wide and the 1024 px wide, and yours is a bit large, off by about 20-40 px.. if you notice going from your home page to the forum you will see what im talking about, they are different sizes..  ;)

and what site is not opening?  :o
Title: Re: wrapper
Post by: sAce on April 18, 2009, 10:45:17 AM

the link is http://www.browsershots.org a typo on my end, but you should have spotted that..

and as for your account, yes. register normal or it will be removed again.

thanks.  :)

not to mention but if your site was fluid it would not be lookiing like it does.. but that isnt a discussion for this thread.. and if you decide to use my wrapper mod, and need help best place to find it is on my site..
