Do I detect a new release soon... ;)
QuotePowered by SMF 1.1 RC2 | SMF © 2001-2005, Lewis Media
I gotta agree, the copyright does look a little better on one line, I never complained about two, but it does look better when simplied like that.
It looks more modern
can i change my 1.0.5 board to that copyright to?(without updating?)
No, changing the copyright is still technically against the license I'm afraid. You'll need to wait until 1.1 is released.
ohh ok no problem ;D
but dont think i'm going to upgrade, modded the hell out of my smf, maybe i pay to let you guy's do it for me :o
You can always stay at SMF 1.0.5 - which will still be supported (and bugfixed if critically) over here. :)
And I have to agree - the copyright looks better on one line. :)

FWIW Charter Membership doesn't cover recoding / reinstalling your mods.
The release should be out soon as Compuart/Grudge (cant remember who) said it would be before christmas :D
We have 10 days...
Good place for a first post ;)
Agree the new copyright looks great!
And as some one who has used many boards over 10+ years I have to say SMF rocks!!!
well ife tried to keep things out of the smf files as mutch as possible, just added files witch should not be affected by and upgrade, i'm onley scared that it does >:(
the onley files that changed for my news script was index.php, added stuff to that allready monsterous array(i must say, its huge!) but hey, it works, so i'm not complaining, onley if the update manager fails to do the trick, who is the one updateing then? :(
yeah! cant wait :) :) and the copyright DOES look better that way! :)
I can't wait to upgrade my test forum to RC2! And like the others, I also like how the new copyright looks, especially the link to the page with more detailed information about licensing and forum abuse. It contains a couple of typos you should correct before RC2 goes public though...
The copyright page is still a work in progress. ;)

The bad thing about having the second link linking to a copyright page is that it lower PR for lewismedia.
If they have loads of forums linking to them it makes them rank well in Google.
However now they have removed the link to lewismedia which will cause the pagerank to fall
Also have charter members got RC2 yet?
where can i download the new RC2 version ?
i dont see it in the downloads section
It hasnt been released yet ;)

No, when it's released to Charter Members an announcement will be made. :)
Aaron.
I believe the reason to pointing it back over here was because of confusion of people thinking that Lewis Media help the copyright for all the content on their forum so it was changed around a bit.
We also had some people who wanted to use SMF, but that had a business in competition with Lewis Media and thus did not want a link directly to them on their forum. This way we both help SMF's page rank, make people happier, the copyright shorter, and still express what we need to express.

That explains it ;)
Although I think it is quite funny if another web design company is using your software. It is like admitting their downfall :P
well a downfall is pretty hard say ed,
a design firm could be many things, like designing graphics, and not code, i also think its fair that lewis media also want them to use it, its a brilliant piece of hardware, not software, cause its rock solid, i really like this comparison Ive came up with:
phpbb is like windows: hard to modify, allways complaining, making computers(read: community) grow old fast
smf is like Linux, easy to modify, only complaints when necessary, giving old computers(read: community) new life
al leas, thats what i'm thinking
