Title: New template or wait for beta 5

Hi,

I want to create a new template SMF.  I have beta 4 installed... should I wait until beta 5 is released (publicly)?  were there a lot changes made to the (default) template in beta 5 as compared to beta 4?

Dont think so. I dont think they touch the themes...

There are slight changes but nothing big, your theme should still run on beta 5 so go for it.

Definitely go for it. As said above the team only makes a few minor changes, so you will be fine.  :)

One more Q's... when beta 5 is released how will we know/identify the changes, if any, in the template files?  or will the developers let us know?

Well, there's a changelog that details them.  Usually they have to do with feature additions, so the old ones will work.

If possible, you might want to try diffing the old default with the new default and applying those same changes...

http://www.scootersoftware.com/moreinfo.php is an absolute must have utility for stuff like this.
