This mod will add a permission for who can use the [HTML] tag. By default only admins have it.
Awesome mod ! ;)
Nice job. :) I may want to use this somewhere soon. I was already looking into how to do it myself, but hadn't figured it out yet. ;)
we can use swf files with this.so is it risky still?like in sig etc.

It is risky if you give the wrong people the permission. I would strongly not recommend giving the permission to regular members.
and chance of RC3 or i should do it and use it for rc3?

Ya, I do have 8 mods (http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?action=search;author=12859) so it might take me some time to get to this one as I'm doing my more popular ones first...I'll try to bump this one up on my priority list.
Version 1.01 has been released! This version adds RC3 support.
nice...
would you consider doing this for other [bbc] such as the custom youtube one?

I might make a bbc permissions mod sometime.
that would be awesome.
I have a few young ones on my forum so there are some BBC I only want certain membergroups to be able to use.
Thanks,
-Jacob
is this smf 1.1.1 compatible?
Excellent! This is exactly what I needed !! Thank you very much!!! :)
thanks for this mod just what i was looking for ;)
how do i turn it on?? i install w/out any problems.. when i html in the topic it just shows the code..
leomai - You have to put the HTML in [html] tags.
Hey. I just installed this mod and I can't find where to set the permissions for the tag. Can someone point me in the right direction- I've looked everywhere that seems logical.
Thanks for the help.

You have to go on your membersgroups permission and you will find in the end.

Very nice! But is it possible to use it when I edit messages of my members?
For example, I want to put a table with HTML with a reason for editing the message, but I can't use the [ html ] tag when I edit my members posts.
Is this possible, somehow?

But the [html] tag would still work, the only problem would come if the member re-edits the post. One suggestion would be trying out this mod - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=349 which is specifically for adding a reason of edit and I imagine you can style it anyway you want using the html that you want.
For some reason, the html didn't show up when I edited a user. But I will try that mod, thanks! :)
I downloaded and installed this mod. Everything appeared to install properly, however there is no check box in the permissions to enable users to use the tag. Suggestions?
anyone?
I also don't have any checkbox on my permissions.

Hi,
It doesnt show up... is this because I'm using 1.1.3 ?
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=411
If someone would be so kind as to try and update this mod to work with 1.1.3, it would be much appreciated. I have tried a number of alternatives for my users to use on my forums to post a special flash player, but have yet to solve my problem. Thank You!
Well, it was never updated for 1.1.3, Would someone be so kind as to update it for 1.1.4?
Guys is there a way to get a button for the topic's toolbar?
I'm suspecting the permission control not showing up may be a utf-8 problem - i.e. not copied from the plain language file into the language.utf8.php file.
If any of you try it and find that's the issue, could you drop a note back here please?
I'd also like to know if it's been updated for 1.1.4 or if dev on 1.x has been abandoned in favour of v2.x ?
Gaz
I'm not sure what you guys above are doing wrong, but I am not not having any trouble finding the option in the permissions page.
Security Warning
I installed this on my forum and gave one of my member groups access to it. One of them said he could use it to hack into my admin account and change anything he wanted. I assumed this wasn't possible, so I dared him to try. About an hour later a random post was made via my username announcing that the guy who said he could do the hacking was a god and everyone should bow down before him!
So basically, don't let anyone you wouldn't trust with your admin account near this. I will likely be leaving it installed as I need that particular usergroup to have access to it.
Works great for us.
SMF 1.1.4 - TP v0.9.8 with Dilber MC theme
Thanks,
Works here too. Thanks for the mod! smf 1.1.5 and tp 1.0.5 beta
Has anyone used this with v1.1.6?
Also is everyone given this permission or do you have to give it to users?
TIA
Joe
In 1.1.6 dont work :'(

You need to assign users to it. Otherwise you are opening a huge security hole like I mentioned above.
OH man installed fine, even viewable in permissions interface but doesnt seem to work :(
please update for latest smf version
tried it 5mins ago with 1.1.7 - the manual installation works fine.
Works fine with SMF1.1.8 too :)
I have installed manually in 1.1.8 and is working!! I can manage to let the user group I wish use the tag.
BUT the user that I allow to, can't use the tag on their own signature!!! (and that's the feature that I wanted >:( )
How can this be? Is some lack of the mod? Can anyone help?
@Rajven - I think it only works with posts, not signatures. I haven't tested it though.

Mod Guys
[HTML] Permission Mod
Compatible With: 1.1.2
This mod will let you set permissions for a group to
use bbc code or after a certain post count etc which is really
a good option to have.
I know this is old, but it should really be updated
for 2.0 RC1 I followed the manual install instructions
and made it to almost the end, the only thing that was
different was what I have below:
./Sources/ManagePermissions.php
The mod edits go in everywhere manually but this one line
Mode says replace this line
'report_any' => false,
Line I have with 2.0RC1
'report_any' => array(false, 'post', 'participate'),
anybody have any ideas on this
Thanks
Ed
For SMF 2.0 RC1.2
./Sources/Subs-Post.php
Find:
if (allowedTo('admin_forum'))
Replace With:
if (allowedTo('post_html'))
./Sources/ManagePermissions.php
Find:
'report_any' => array(false, 'post', 'participate'),
Replace With:
'report_any' => array(false, 'post', 'participate'),
'post_html' => array(false, 'post', 'moderate'),
Find:
'profile_title_any',
Replace With:
'profile_title_any',
'post_html',
./Themes/default/languages/ManagePermissions.english.php
Find:
$txt['permissiongroup_attachment'] = 'Attachments';
Replace With:
$txt['permissionname_post_html'] = 'Post HTML';
$txt['permissionhelp_post_html'] = 'This will allow members to post HTML using [html] BBC tags.';

Great mod! Thank you so much for developing it.
OK, I really need some help. I had this working. Then the past few days I been adding mods. It still works...BUT your can see the Tags now [html /html]. Does anybody know of other mods that are known to conflict with this one? I checked all the codes and they are still there. Any Ideas? Thanks
Anybody still work with this mod???
Ok I did a clean install AGAIN because nobody knew of a fix for this, and started putting all my mods back on, everything went ok with the HTML mod untill I installed (mp3 Flash Player BBC Tag) and that mod wouldnt display correctly so I uninstalled it and the HTML mod STILL doesnt work. Any idea what it could be since I know the actual mod that caused the conflict??
AWSOME mod! Very useful.

Any modifications needed for 2.0 RC 5.0?
Worked perfect on the previous RC versions but not on RC 5.0
Update desperately needed!!
Bump
is this smf 2.0 RC 5.0 compatible?
Works fine for me on SMF 2.0 final when installing as described above. And it worked on RC5 as well.
Not sure what the problem is for Nvb.

Can be the reason that the [ html ] tags were missing in those posts. Try to edit them, add tags to them and see if it works.
Yeah tried that already Joker to no avail also if I use <iframe> it shows my site & not the thing im trying to embed don't know what the hell happened but i changed themes before & never had this like you said normally just go back edit & works but very odd this time only new thing is 2.0.1 & transparent theme ???
Can you post any html or just simple html <b><i><u> ??
There would be no point if this mod replicated the basic HTML permission that's already available via SMF's backend.
So this allows all HTML.
How can I implement this HTML code?
<table align="center" border="8" cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<td align="center" bgcolor="yellow">
<font color="red" size="4">Happy</font>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td align="center" bgcolor="aqua">
<font color="blue" size="4">Anniversary</font>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
Wrap it around [html]<<YOUR CODE>>[/html]

If you are Admin it works, just put something like this:
[html]<table align="center" border="8" cellspacing="0">
<tr><td align="center" bgcolor="yellow"><font color="red" size="4">Happy</font></td></tr>
<tr><td align="center" bgcolor="aqua"><font color="blue" size="4">Anniversary</font></td></tr>
</table>[/html]
If you are not Admin, then the Admin need to activate the HTML BBCode for use in the posts (not recommended), or install this mod if it's SMF 1.1.x or do what it says in this post (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=107303.msg2219623#msg2219623) if it's SMF 2.0.x (not tested, but the search values are correct for a SMF 2.0.x files sintax), other way, users can't use HTML in posts.

Hi, thanks for your post. I have allowed my users but it wont work for me even using my admin account.
you do realize that allowing the HTML tag for users is a BAD BAD BAD idea? You are essentially handing the the ability to become and admin and/or do anything they want to your server.
