SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC3
Hi,
not sure if I'm missing something or not.
I've upgraded my forum from 1.0.7 to 1.1RC3 (very nice work - love the changes).
However, when I do a search I seem to be returning lots of results, all with a relevane of 0%. I've tried creating a full text index and using it, but still no joy.
Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does the search relevance thing not quite work? (I see you have relevance values on your site, so it may be a config issue in mine).

Yes, I am also seeing this problem. and I tried it with every theme I have installed. I get same results. The search works its just displaying the incorrect relevance value
Just noticed this on my site as well. Is this an "officially recognized" bug?
i have this problem also, just find it out - must be a bug

1.1 RC3 has problems with search issues. I'm sure developers are working on it.
Can you try disabling the spell checker feature?

Was this in reference to the search relevance problem? If so, it didn't change anything... still 0%.
I can also verify this is present.
Upon disabling of spell checker, the problem still is present.
Any official response on this?
Hello? Why is the search % working on this site, but not forum.joomla.org for example. ???

When i search your site, i was able to get a relevance percentage
Hum,
I just tried going to the search page at http://www.leroc-in-bristol.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=search
entering "shoes" and clicking on the <search> button.
Everything still had a 0% rating.
Also tried it in different themes and logged in and logged out.
How did you do your search?
John.
Have you created an search index?
Yes:
Space used by forum messages in the database: 4459.86 KB
Space used to index messages in the database: 2789 KB
Search index: Fulltext index
Index: already created [remove fulltext index]
Size: 2789 KB
Force the use of a search index [true]
Match whole words only [false]
I do a search for "shoes" and get this:
It might be because its a fulltext index, so revelance targets the whole word and sees if its in the title; but since it ain't, it says 0% :D

When i search your site, i was able to get a relevance percentage
I just did a search on that site and get 0%
0% on that site as well
The version I was running prior (1.08) did not have this issue. I don't remember needing to full text index or anything. It just worked. so not sure whats exactly wrong I am no expert on this matter. Any one know how to correct this?
Should this thread be moved or reported in the bug report section? It seems I am not the only one having this issue.
Any updates on fixing this as I'm also getting it on my forum?...
Thanks.
In my
forum at
www.overunity.com
I also have a search problem.
I am still running
1.1 RC2
and when I search for somthing,
I just get only the last message,
where 2 words I search for were in.
It does not find the other messages,
where the 2 words were in.
I have tried alrady all possible
settings with the induvidial index
and normal index and without index,
but it does not help.
I have set it now this way:
Search method
Space used by forum messages in the database: 14,243 KB
Space used to index messages in the database: 7,304 KB
Search index:
Why create a search index? No index
Fulltext index
Index: already created [remove fulltext index]
Size: 7,304 KB
Custom index
Index: doesn't currently exist [create custom index]
Force the use of a search index: x
Match whole words only:
So when I search for the words:
multi strand
it only finds one message, but there are really
a few messages with these 2 words in there...
So what could this be ?
Many thanks.
Regards, Stefan.
I tried this from scratch with 1.1 RC3. I had my moderators come in and post one post with random text in each of 5 forums using newsclips from ABC, FOX, etc. to give text diversity.
I then went into Admin >> Search >> Search Method
I built a custom Index (Large).
Then I tried searching to see the percentage results. All were 0%. So, this truly is a bug...turning off spell check and building indices will not repair it.
This is a bug and hopefully it will be fixed in 1.1 final.
Try the Search.php file from 1.1 RC2 for now - that seems to work fine for most people having this problem.
I don't really find this a bug, I got a revelance; you have to adjust the weights.
Recommendations, do the last 2 as 10% and the others as 20%.
edited... wrong thread.

I just went to your site's forum and searched for the word 'hosting'. That sure looks like it's yielding 0% relevance to me.

Oh yeah I changed the weights on another site, let me update them now. Please try again, I have just updated them.
The only problem now is the revelance goes over 100%
Shows it now. And yes, the first is over 100%.
So it depedns on your weights actually, this isn't really a bug then :D
That sort of depends on whether or not it was intended to work that way, doesn't it? ;)
So it's only the problem with the top-heavy that needs fixing :P

It being "fixed" for 1.1 final, makes it actually a bug :P
True, true and how long has it gone on for?
