ok please forgive because i'm new to all of this portal stuff. I love SMF, it has everything I need. Recently I have installed CPG-NUke but of course I really don't phpBB and would like to convert that to SMF. Is there any way to do this? Is there a converter out there available?

Does this work with the CPG-Nuke web portal though? So I just install SMF and run the converter?
Now your asking the wrong person! I just know the converters are there! :) lol I didn't convert, I started over with this site!

If you want to stay with SMF (which i highly recommend) wait for the official portal which must be pretty imminent.
I would wait for eithe the official portal addon or the lsp nebula portal for smf
