Title: Autolock topics
Post by: Dolphi on July 16, 2004, 06:18:47 PM
I have some popular topics on my board where users post replies very regulary. I don't want to have very large topics so I build an autolock feature for my YaBB SE board. So users post a new part of the topic when it's autolocked.

I think it will be a nice feature in SMF, if you can enable autolock topics after specified numbers of replies.
Very big topics will slow down the board so it's not only looks 'clean' but it's also better for the performance of the board.

What do you think of it?

Might for a mod, cause if you're running a word association, it's kind of messy seeing Word Association part 1 with x replies, than Word Association part 2 with x replies, and so on.
So I'm saying a mod..

rather than just the number of replies, it'd probably be better to have more options for such a feature/mod, like X number of days after last reply or started, for example

Yeah, like topics that are about some events, and you set it to close x days after the event has occured with an auto-message. I don't see the need for this feature on every forum, so I'm voting for a mod.
