Hi.

This mod is very recommended, thanks for make it.

I only see the option for save all messages in the inbox, but there is no option for save the messages in the outbox (or I don't see it).

If it isn't, is possible to implemment this option for any future version?

Regards.

Hi.

Thank you for make it quickly.

When I'm going to upload the mod in the package section, It said that the file is corrupt and when I go to the download folder, the file size is "0". I tried to download three times and all times it's the same.

Can you check it, please?

Regards.

hmmm is there a problem if you have a LOT of messages?  I tried it with my inbox and it displayed the html page no problem, but when I tried my outbox (which is larger) I just got a popup saying 'you have chosen to open index.php which is a winzip file' what should firefox do - open with - phpfile (default) or save to disc.  I tried saving it but it was empty.  I thought maybe my outbox was too big for it to work? :(

ok so how do I save my outbox when there are 200 pages of messages in it?  I go to outbox, I click on 'save all messages' and it wont do it.  I just get the 'save' pop up box as per above, but the file is empty.

I really need to save this outbox of messages which is why I was so pleased to see this mod

@ Perplexed

ディン1031 is quite right in saying that if your messages list is too big your server will time out when trying to execute a query from this mod...so go to your outbox and right click then save page as so as to get a copy of the page? It's not as nice a way of doing it as this mod provides and will carry over a lot of unwanted detail but it will work well enough for your needs I suspect.

You MAY be able to adjust the time to live or time out values at your PC or in you php.ini files (respectively).

yeah I guess I could do that, I've done it before, but the way this mod saves the messages is so clean I really wanted it to work with the outbox (serves me right for having so many)

Title: Re: Save Personal Message as HTML
Post by: KGIII on June 18, 2007, 06:42:27 PM
It depends on your OS and it depends on your hosting company's granted access. Can you adjust your php.ini file? If so then that's been answered before a bunch of times. If not then you'd need to ask them. If it is your OS that is causing the problem then, well, you can find one of the many networking tweaking tools to adjust your TTL value to a higher amount. In this case it may well be your php.ini that needs adjusting and the simplest course is to ask your hosting company or search and do it yourself IF you have access to the file.

Hello most of the core files past the initial installation test except for this one.

   ./Themes/default/languages/ManageSettings.english.php     Skipping file

It skipped that file as well as the other language files, which I do not have installed.  Should I be concerned about this ManageSettings.english.php file?

Thanks,

Thanks for this mod, it was just what I was looking for to archive my messages!

Is there any way to change the sort order so that the most recent messages appear at the top of the HTML file, the same way the option to "Show most recent personal messages at top" functions?  Perhaps the next version of this mod could check the setting of that option on a per-user basis, and create the HTML file accordingly?

Cool Mod!  Thanks...

2 things -

1.  I too, would like to reverse sort the PM's - so the most recent are at the top - how would I do that?

2. Hhow would I restrict the Save All PMs feature to a certain group (group 9 for me specifically)

Thanks in advance!

Strange, normal if the Single PM is dl correct, the save all pms function schould also work... because they use both the same Template. Are you sure that the downloaded PM is correct shown?

Can you look at the smf error log, and can you look if the download single pm really working... Because it work fine and i have not a single clue why it not work with your version... they use both the same function so if the single work the all must work. If all not work the single will also not work!

So i don't have any clue why this happen <<.

Thanks for the mod. It really works well
One question tho: Is there a way user can save selected PM only. Just like the delete button is already there. It will delete only selected PM.
Now, it's more helpful if a user can do the same with saving PM, just selects the PM he want sto save by click the checkbox next to it, then click save button.

Thank you so much for this great mod. It does give members an incentive to empty their inboxes from time to time.

One problem was reported from one member. After she clicked "Save all PMs," she only see a blank page on the browser with "done" at the bottom of the page. I an others don't have the same problem.

Is there a browser compatibility issue?

Not that i know, but you can ask which browser the user use, and i can look if it make problems.
Normal i testet it with ie5, 6, 7 and with ff 1,2,3 and opera 8.5 and it work fine with all this browsers.

And normal a page appear only if there are images in the files, if not images in it the script start a download.

Hi, thank you for your reply. The member tried FF and IE, also a different computer. It is showing a blank page.

I am just thinking - is there a limit which the html page can be generated? Is it possible that the member has a lot of PM which causes the problem?

Thanks again for your help!

Oh you mean the pm save all option? :)
I thought you mean a single pm, that could be possible, i wrote this also in the description.
I think i disabled the limit on the mod, you can enable it if you change something in the files.

Yes, save all pm option. Sorry that I didn't make it clear.

Is it possible that the members have too many PMs to use "save all"?

Yes it is possible, some server hoster don't allow to slow query's, and if you save all and have to much Pm's it can produce a slow query. Also sometimes a max execution time finish.

To prevent this you can remove comment string from $sourcedir/PersonalMessage.php
//if(count($pms) > 250)
// fatal_error('Bitte nicht mehr als 250 PMs gleichzeitig speichern!', FALSE);

And you should replace 'Bitte nicht mehr als 250 PMs gleichzeitig speichern!' with 'To many PMs!'.

It's also possible that you need to lower the 250.

We're probably going to install this MOD (I like being able archive PMs :) ), but some of the Team wondered if it's possible to be able to check mark specific PMs, just like one can check specific PMs to delete?

After that i could extent it with this feature.
And if i update it would work on both versions.

Hello,

I installed this into our site and it works rather well, so grazie mille!

We maintain a change topic for our members and I included instructions on how to use it and how it works.  As I didn't see in the MOD announcement how this worked as far as the members were concerned, I thought you might wish to cut and paste what follows into the MOD announcement.  Please note I highlighted in blue that selecting multiple PMs is not supported at this time.  You may wish to remove that line from this description:

Members can save PMs individually or all their PMs into a single HTML file.  It is possible to save the Inbox and Outbox in separate HTML files.  It is NOT possible at this time to select a set of PMs to save to an HTML file. We have made that request to the MOD author, who did include such an intent in the design of the MOD.  Should that feature be added, a notice will be placed in the Change History Topic.

Please be aware of the following points regarding this feature:

How Does It Work?

Line 2350 simply says:

mysql_free_result($request);

Line 2348 says the same thing as well. Dunno if that matters but thought I would mention it.

The admin can also enable a option to allow users to save all pms in the inbox. You find this in Admin -> Features and Settings -> Basic Settings.

In the SMF 2.0 RC1-1 this function seems to be found now at:

Admin -> Security
and Moderation  -> General
.
(last setting at the bottom)

Or is there more to enable somewhere else ?

Many thanks.

Please can you implement the feature to select messages for saving ?

You could use the same Tick boxes, which you use to delete messages.

That would be great, if I could select a few messages and just only
save them and then delete them.
So I can save and remove messages much easier which belong
to one topic.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards, Stefan.

Hello,

We're getting the following error log message pair:

8: Undefined index: pid
File: /home/zzz/forum/Sources/PersonalMessage.php
Line: 2421

8: Undefined index: pms
File: /home/zzz/forum/Sources/PersonalMessage.php
Line: 1737

Both messages will have a URL similar to:
http://zzz.org/forum/index.php?action=pm;sa=pmactions;f=inbox;start=120

We are running on SMF 1.1.11 and version 1.0.7 of this MOD.

Assistance will resolving this error pair or at least determining it has no significance will be greatly appreciated.

This was over 18 months ago, there is no further work on this mod by the original author or anyone else. Is there a process for declaring a mod "abandoned" so it can be updated for the current version of the software?
Title: Re: Save Personal Message as HTML (V1.0.7)

Yes, I think a MOD Author must be forced to supply his sources and when he is not updating his MOD for the newest version after 2 months,
the Sources should be given to somebody else, so he can update these Mods...

Would be good if MOD authors would take a bit more professional approach to their MODs.

They could also put out paid MODs so they will make some money.

Maybe SMF can make the payment process for MODs on their own
SMF site so all payments go through SMF and the MOD authors will be paid out.

This way both sides will have some interest to work on this stuff some more...

Regards, Stefan.
