Title: package manager and modes problem

Hello guys I setup a forum from smf via (fantastico)  and every thing going good but I wanted to install mods
every time i press install or uninstall it gives me error

the error is:  Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
   
   Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.


I get this error if im trying to install or uninstall but by retrying and get back and try it again it works but I cant see any mods labels under the configuration label from what I installed, I tryd to go to options tab at backages label so I can set (all files are writable) but the option doesnt change it stays at (Only the standard files are writable.)  I tryd 100 time today but i cant change that option, what can I do???? please help.   


do you think if i change that option from  (Only the standard files are writable.)  to (all files are writable) I can install mods and uninstall mods peacly is that the solution if yes i cant do it!!!!!!!!! I tryd any thing else I can try to do????

Are you using the default theme? Also... I would have to wonder about your settings... Do you have a link and, if you would be so kind, could you PM me an admin account and a modification you would like installed and I will go in and take a look but not until later today. I am due to leave in about 9 minutes.

/me is leaving soon but has your info and replied with a question...

Please understand that debugging can take quite a bit of time. Right now it appears as if there is something wrong at the hosting end of things.

Has your host cleared up this problem or have you been able to solve it yet. ???
