Title: Visual verification image not showing up
Post by: Spektrum808 on August 11, 2007, 03:53:25 PM
Hi,

I just did a fresh install and put about 8 hours worth of work into my forum only to find out that no one can register because the verification image is not showing up, and you can't listen to it either.

I have done some research on google and most of the other people that have this problem are told to check with their hosting company and leave it at that.  I called my hosting company, GoDaddy asking for help and they told me the only thing that they could do is uninstall and re-install the software.  I don't want to do this because I will lose all of the work that I have done.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, if you keep a back-up of your database, you won't lose any of your posts/topics/PMs/users/etc. It will simply mean you have to reinstall all of your modifications and themes, but you shouldn't lose any userdata :)

Can you provide a url to your forum?

Edit: I also removed the poll from this topic, as it is not needed.

Sorry about the poll.

I was able to get the problem solved.  This may help someone else that is having the same problem so here is a summary of what I did to get it fixed:

Downloaded a new version of SMF to my local machine.  Attempted to copy and re-upload the Fonts folder to my webserver and I was still getting the same problem.  I then decided to try to re upload the whole "Themes" folder to my server and viola ---problem solved!

I am not sure exactly which file or folder was causing the problem, however by just re-uploading the whole Themes folder I was able to get it fixed.  I did not have to un-install or re-install the software nor did I lose any of the work that I had originally done.

Thanks to those that responded to my original post.  I hope this helps someone else out!
