The author of www.armysystem.com has given permission to allow SMF to run this mod for IPB, mean someone can convert it to SMF as long as his copyright remains.
This system is VERY user friendly and VERY popular on game related sites, and even RPG sites, even sites with kids it is very addicting. If someone could possibly convert it I'd love you to death!!!!!

you do realize i have been waiting for this for a long long time right?
i run a clan forum that is for a game that the army system was designed to be based off of. and we love our army system.
thats basically the only reason we have to use IPB. once thats converted to SMF i see no reason to stay with IPB!
ok since its my birthday today... who wants to give me a bday present by converting this for me :P

my money is tight currently... cant really afford to pay anyone to convert this.
but i might be able to offer a small shared account for a few months for free. (might be of some use to someone)
with our clan and the program we use for the actual original game http://www.kingsofchaos.com
we have 3 dedicated servers setup to run the program we have to grow faster.
2 servers with
2gb ram
p4 with HT
raptors and 1500GB each.
and a
x2 4600+
4gb ram raptor 2000Gb bw and a 300GB backup drive.
we use alot of these resources believe it or not. but i shouldnt have to much trouble aranging maybe a 5/50GB plan for 3 months....
maybe even a 10/100 if someone can get this done promptly...
I'm glad someone uses it :) I think it's a real attention getter and maybe feeble could convert this for us *hint*. It's one hell of a way to get activity on a forum, especially if it was made around games, clan, rpg related sites, or just for people that love text based games.

i can provide it with cpanel/whm/rvskins/fant even. and maybe ssh depending on who you are..

edit: maybe this would do better under the "help wanted section" as "partial paid"

edit: im about ready to kill just to have a reason not to stay with IPB... once this is done. il have no reason to really stick with it. (clan members require this mod....) once its converted. i see no reason to stay. (a few members might not like it... but oh well! :p)

Err, what is this Army System CORE thing? Trying to find out anything requires a registration >_>
Army System Core is a web based game where you can train soldiers for any money you set in the admin panel, and it varies from trained, untrained, attacker or defender. You can also train spys to spy around enemie bases. You can purchase armory for your soldiers to raise their attack points and take more off enemies. You can set any certain amount of money to be given to people every hour and determin how many turns you may give them. You attack armies in your fighting rang and gainm money from them, and it's all absed on how many hitpoints you have. You can upgrade your fortress, raise your fighting level on soldiers and purchase this thing that gives you a certain amount of people every set limit by the admin. So basically it's your advanced web based game for a forum. You can create clans, set up a bank, te features are endless. It's REALLY REALLY addicting once you get started, and it's something people will never stop liking on your forum. It really keeps them active :P.
Do you know any details like size, bandwidth? In other words, would I have a problem running it off of a 1500MB space site with 75 gb of bandwidth (currently use about 950meg a month) I wouldn't think it would be. But, just making sure!

it really depends how big your forum is really. and how active the members are.
the original game that isnt integrated with any forum. is located at http://kingsofchaos.com and http://beta.kingsofchaos.com
it also depends if you can manage to have someone code a program to help people grow faster on the game.
the original game depending on the time in the age. can expect anywhere from 500k to 2 million page views a day. just for the recruit.php pages. (anywhere from 300 to like. 5k people that make those page views to the recruit.php page.) and quite a bit to the other pages of the game.
but. to sum it up. with the built in version. with maybe 40 members semi active playing it. you can expect it to consume around 6GB of bw in a month.
its more ram/cpu/disk i/o dependant than anything.
the mod itself would probably double the ram/cpu/disk i/o needed compared to smf standard. (aprox)
its a really great game. at the prime of the original game. there was around 200k or more active players. (its down to like 5-30k now though..)
edit: i actually play both the regular kings of chaos. and the beta. my alias on both is "ubergold" without the "" of course :P
edit yet again. i might as well mention that i am ranked 38 on age 7 of kings of chaos. (out of over 32k players) :P
I got 18k members on my site and every single one of them would be interested. I got my own server though, and unlimited bandwidth and space, so not much to worry for me. I have a lot of cheaters on my site, so this is one thing that would piss them off since they can't cheat :P

actually the current version of the army system does not include capcha.
the next version with no eta is suppose to have it built in though.
i have created a custom sabatoge cap for the ipb version. (works great but i keep it closed source :P)
i have thought of coding a captcha system as well.. but i dont know if i want to or not... :-\
This topic looked pretty dead, but just curious to see how the conversion was going, if anyone was doing it.

So this mod is some sort of rpg game in the forum?
Is there anything else close to it? for SMF?
or some RPG? I dont think i saw any in the mods section.
