Just this week my forum is having a problem inserting quotes into replies. This happened after I did the upgrade to 1.1.4. I also added the bookmark mod before we noticed it, but I have uninstalled and deleted it. Any help would be appreciated...thanks!
What is happening? Errors? Theme?
It is happening to all themes. When you are in the post reply page and click insert quote, nothing happens at all. Not a thing. You're still right where you were as if you hadn't clicked anything. lol
link to your board, please?
Yeah, it happened to me after upgrade to 1.1.4 too. My forum is www.MotoHell.com
When you reply to a topic and press "Insert Quote" - nothing happens
Also when you press the "Preview" button in a new message (or reply) there is some javascript error, which I can't figure out how to fix
your google analytics code is outside the </html> tag. It must be inside it. (the tag is set in index.template.php)
Huge thanks - everything is fixed now :)
And Metallica is the best band in the world :P
My appologies - obviously it DID NOT happened due upgrade, but was my fault

Is that my fix, also? If so, I do not understand quite what to do. Sorry to make it harder to help me.
wattie, no problem at all, i may have thought the same if it happened around the time of an upgrade.
ambivalent, without seeing your site, i can't pick out the issue. Thanks :)
Oh. I have the same thing. Although mine started happening after a different problem. I had a server crash and had to restore the site from backups, and I had to reapply all patches from 1.1.1 to 1.1.4. Since then the quoting has been knackered.

I posted about this in the mambo bridge support forum here (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=198213.new#new) however I realised it's not a bridge issue, since it happens even when you don't enter the forum through the bridge URL.
If someone can figure it out or even tell me what to look at, I'd be SO grateful! :(
do you have a test account?
also, what is the bridge URL?
I don't have a test account, but guests can post in the Backstage Area forum. Or, you're free to register.
Bridge URL is http://www.audiojunkies.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=0
please create a test account so we can login to look.
Thanks.
umm... ok.... is this "test account" supposed to be some kind of special account? Admin account? Am I allowed to PM you the login or do I have to put it here?
you can PM it to me :)
I shouldn't require admin privs.
You can use admin > registration to create an account :)
Ok sent :)
Alright,
I'll take a look when i get home from school :P
Ok, thank you!
I get two JS errors when trying to quote,
Error: XMLDoc.getElementsByTagName("quote")[0] has no properties
Source File: http://www.audiojunkies.net/smf/Themes/default/xml_topic.js
Line: 29
Error: junk after document element
Source File: http://www.audiojunkies.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=0?action=quotefast;quote=107303;sesc=c73c75bcf19e1750f894b2f6770fbf54;xml
Line: 14, Column: 1
Source Code:
<div align="center" style="margin-top: 2ex;"><a href="javascript:history.go(-1)">Back</a></div>^
It is possible that other javascript may be breaking this, or code added to javascript, but i can't tell exactly what's causing it.
I'm not sure what you mean, what other javascript, I never added any javascript anywhere... ?
What mods do you have installed?
Can you enable the default theme?
Here's a list of mods that are installed:
1. SMF 1.1.1 Update Package 1.1.1 [ Uninstall ]
2. Admin Notepad 1.0 [ Uninstall ]
3. Signature Settings Mod 1.0 [ Uninstall ]
4. MessagePreviewOnHover 1.4 [ Uninstall ]
5. SMF Staff Page 1.5 [ Uninstall ]
6. Topic description 1.0 [ Uninstall ]
7. Spoiler Tag 0.3.1 [ Uninstall ]
8. SMF 1.1.2 Update Package 1.1.2 [ Uninstall ]
9. SMF 1.0.11 / 1.1.3 Update 1.1 [ Uninstall ]
10. SMF 1.0.12 / 1.1.4 / 2.0 b1.1 Update 1.0
I do think it may be a mod problem. I had a big mess happen there, my host's server crashed, and when they restored the site, the database was up to date but the files were half a year old. That resulted in the SMF database thinking mods should be there, but the actual mod files not being there. I couldn't uninstall them as such, so I just installed them once more. It seemed to work with no errors, but maybe that was a lie. Maybe I should uninstall them all now and try again?
As for the theme, I can't really make the default theme be, well, default, (would look horrible, too many people in the forum) but I can enable theme choosing, if that's any use?
Yeah ok I definitely have a problem. Whichever package I try to uninstall, it says "Unable to find package file!". The mods are working though, they're all there. What do I do? How do I uninstall them???
[edit]
I just tried uploading their packages to the packages directory, but that didn't work.
Help!
you could download the SMF upgrade package (the large upgrade), delete upgrade.php, and the two sql files, from it, and then upload the remainder to your server. This'll clean up the mods in the default themes and the Sources. If you use a custom theme also grab a fresh copy of that and copy it over what is currently there.
This will uninstall all your mods (but will retain their Database information so that you could reinstall them without data loss).
Then, open /Packages/installed.list, and delete everything in it.
Then you should be able to reinstall whichever mods you wish.
