Title: Member deleted own THREAD - how?
Post by: Nutronic on October 19, 2007, 04:09:01 AM
I made sure that the members cannot delete own topics, just modify but yesterday a member deleted a thread of theirs that I had locked. I looked in the moderation log but there was no record of me locking the thread and no record of it being deleted neither.

So I was wondering how they managed to do that and also how I can prevent it from happening again.

The above permissions can be managed via your forum admin back-end > Permissions. Once select the group of the members on your forum you would like to change permissions for by clicking on the modify button available right from the name of each group name the "Delete replies to own topics" is available on the Global Board Permissions > Posts.

Note that you may need to disable both:

Delete replies to own topics
Delete posts

to ensure that your board members will not be able to delete their posts.

Thats already been done. There is only a log for me locking the topic but there is nothing for it being deleted.

Goto a persons profile (member who you think has this ability) as admin and click show permissions and check if and where they might have the ability.  It can be a surprise sometimes where some abilities are inherited from.

You're welcome.  I take it you worked out where and if they had the ability?
