Title: How do I disable PM for certain user
Post by: Ricky. on January 25, 2008, 03:11:08 PM
I can see that you can ban a user and by paritial ban you can stop him from posting / sending PM but can still log in.

But is there any way that I can ban only PM for a particular member ?

Not unless you put them into a membergroup where PM is disabled. You will need to create a new membergroup and set the permission as so. Then put that member into that group.

It is fine but whenver I create new group, I hv to set persmission in each board for that group .. I have around 100+ boards and setting persmission for each board is really time wasting task..  it roughly takes 2 hrs with lots of irritation !

Otherwise that group is added with read only permission for whole board.

I use this mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=59 (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=59)
It allows you to allow or deny specific permissions to specific members without having to create a new membergroup.
My forum is version 1.1.4 and the mod works great.

Not necessarily.

You can enable the DENY permissions settings.  Create the membergroup and add to that persons secondary membergroup.   Then DENY Send personal messages and they will still have the various access of their primary groups but be deny PM sending abilities.
