Title: Divine Smilies
Post by: shadow82x on March 14, 2008, 12:51:01 PM
Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1119)

One of the best (imo) smiley packs out there. It is rounded and looks 3d. This smiley pack is not like others it contains lots of extra smilies by default. Look at few examples to the right.

Install this smiley pack like others
Admin -> Smilies and Avatars -> New Smiley pack

Enjoy these smilies as much as I do. :)

Ported to SMF by me (shadow82x) at www.egadforums.com

Quick question... Kind of noobish, I think, but... when I install, only 1/2 show up in the post message. The others don't appear. How do I install them/make them usable (SMF 2)? I uploaded through the Package Manager...

It should work fine. Do you have a link to your forum after installing it? Thanks

When porting this mod I used the same smiley file names as the default SMF smilies.

Unfortunatly, no. I'm testing everything on localhost before uploading it live.

However, these are the smilies that appear to be missing.

arrows_right.gif
blank.gif
exclam.gif
glare.gif
monkey.gif
nerd.gif
scyth.gif
sweat.gif

They do all exist in the folder

G:\xampp\htdocs\smf2\Smileys\divine, they just don't show up.

Thanks.

BTW - From looking at the thumbnails inside the folder that their stored in... they look awesome! I look forward to using them on my site :D Great work!

Ahh those are extra smilies I threw in. They should not be blank when posting. You should be able to add it manually later on.

Do you have
Admin -> Smileys -> Settings -> Enable customized smileys - disabled?

Good day or night!

Downloaded the smileys set.

When tried to upload the zip file, got the msg:

"The following smiley directories are not writable: default, classic"

What is the remedy?

Options are enabled:

Enable smiley set selection by members:
Enable customized smileys:  (otherwise, the default smileys will be used.)

In FTP you will need to chmod your /smilies folder

How do I use chmod? (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=23690.0)

Or sometimes you can do this in your hosting panel.

Thank you so much. shadow82x.

For now, it appears that permissions are still denied
and my host needs to enable the features.

I ll wait for its response.

My changes in chmod are reversed back to default after I changed them; that's why I believe that hosting's set up overrides me.

The same for cpanel.

Thank you for helping me to try all the steps first, as wtihout them,
so much time could be wasted.

Have you tried chmodding up to 755? It should not be denied though.

Thank you again, shadow82x (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;u=93211)  for extending good will.

In my case, the host had to re-adjust the settings and its tech support did.

Now, I can upload.

The move was inspired by an amazing and captivating smiley I found at http://tinyportal.net (http://tinyportal.net/).

"Ticked-off" is so expressive that, the creator of it, managed to put
all the emotions in a little rascal at the level of an award.

I, just, had to get him.

Not the creator  :)  - the product!

And I put him to action at:
http://sovereignjustice.org/index.php?topic=96.msg528#msg528 (http://sovereignjustice.org/index.php?topic=96.msg528#msg528)

I believe he made the point.

It was the host issue and the tech support did the adjustments.
Thank you all who helped.

Never received a reply from This Forum, another Thread regarding how to copy URLs intact from VBB using enhanced WYSIWYG editor since, in SMF 1.4,

%22 is added,

preceding the links (URLs), making them useless unless %22 is deleted manually on each copied URL.

Would anyone know how to fix that?

Actual Example for illustrative purposes left intact.

Any ideas?

They should be able to show up fine. Do you have a link to your forum?
