ability to limit or restrict certain symbols or maybe just use alphanumberic

Sorry for not making it clear, but it's not set reserved name.

Some sites may allow complex user names (ie: u$ern<me, john_doe, j0hn-d@#) and some sites may prefer simple user names with only alphanumeric without underscore or special characters (ie: john12, d0e, j0hnd0e, doejohn, etc.).  Hopefully this clears it up.  Maybe this feature request may end up not being as simple as it sounds.

This was actually intentionally undone, for internationalization reasons.

I think it's more of a mod to "re enable" it, as it were.
