Title: Recount Posts Maintenance
Post by: rsw686 on March 23, 2008, 09:29:41 PM
Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1136)

This mod will add a link to common tasks to recalculate forum member post counts. This can be useful if you change a board's count posts setting or just want to make sure your post counts are accurate.

Don't we already have this?

I thought so too. Or does this work differently than "Recount all forum totals and statistics"?

"Recount all forum totals and statistics" does not update the member's post counts. It does all the other forum statistics like posts / topics per board, etc.

Oooh. 'Tis a shame it doesn't.

Thanks for this feature, then.

The reason is recounting member posts is resource intensive for a large board. It has to go through the message table for each member and count the number of posts.

We still have a mod that does this exact same thing.

Not for SMF 2.0. Plus that mod can time out of large boards. Mine takes advantage of new feature in SMF 2 to do a 150 members at a time then reload the page and continue.

Does this mode take in consideration the boards in which user's posts aren't added into statistic?

One more question: if mod increase/decrease user's post count, will it change user's group based on posts count?

Very likely that it will.

Yes it will. There is no way to tell if the mod changed the post count. The mod just counts all the posts for boards with post counts enabled and adjusts the members post count to match.

However you could just change that members post count back afterwards.

Is this available to SMF RC1?

Why this is not one default feature? :(

It would be great either to have it in default or to have an RC version.

It means you do not have those templates. Re download SMF and add them to your sources folder.

*    2.    Execute Modification    ./Sources/ManageMaintenance.php    Test failed
      1.    Add After    ./Sources/ManageMaintenance.php    Test failed
      2.    Add Before    ./Sources/ManageMaintenance.php    Test successful
*    3.    Execute Modification    ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php    Test successful

Are you planning on updating this to RC2 anytime soon? If not please say so, so I can update it myself.

Yes, RC2 supported is awaited, since many 1post members are after upgrading now 0post members..and so dont see all needed boards..

Add my vote for an RC2 version -

I have several users for the Feed Poster mod whose post counts are way out of control even though 95%+ of the imported posts are deleted before going public - those are not getting deducted from their post counts, so I really need this mod.

I modified the current release so it will work in rc2
the mod owner is free to use those changes
it worked in my forum, but it is as is
so use at your own risk, and compare against the original version

Hello guys,
First, I want to thank  rsw686 for this plugin it realy helped. Still I have SMF 2.0 RC2 so the plugin is not compatible, but I made some little modifications to it and now is working perfectly.

I made a tutorial here just in case, hope that will help the others with the same problem.

Could do with this updating to SMF 2.0 RC 4

Looks like RC4 arriving a couple of months ago has caught out a lot of plugin developers - there are so many plugins that have not been updated yet.

I would love to see this updated for Final, as the "other option" on the mod site doesn't seem to work...

EDIT: I did actually update this for my own forum already, works perfectly, and fits in the admin section as well (uses a button, instead of a link), but since this is not my mod and all...

just wondering, how is it different from Recount Member Posts (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=361988.0)?
