Title: Question about Converting from vBulletin to SMF
Post by: Mark Walter on March 27, 2008, 10:16:19 PM
I'm working with a group that currently has version 3.5.4 of vBulletin installed on another server.  We originally were going to move the forum and software to my server until I realized I did not have the correct version of Mysql on my server (shared system).

Here's my question.  When you convert a board, do you need just the data or do you have to have access to the board itself?  The old webmaster is gong to download a data file and the software files for me to use in the move.

I've converted from phpBB before, but the boards I was converting from were on my server.

Thanks,
Mark

For a conversation, I'm quite sure you just need the db of the source forum to perform the conversion to SMF.  But if it makes reference to specific avatars/attachments stored for the source forum you may need those as well in the correct file structure.  But I'm not familiar if the conversion process takes such files.

Thanks...  I guess all I can do is try it and see what happens.
