Title: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on April 17, 2008, 03:28:10 PM
Link to the theme (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=618)

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fcustom.simplemachines.org%2Fthemes%2Findex.php%2Faction%2Cdownload%2Flemma%2C618%2Fimage%2Cthumb&hash=d4d7a00daa3a3bbfdb413a7083071cefde232e10)

Updated version of the Sunset theme (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=569) for SMF 2.0. Comes with some SEO features such as site name and page name in the meta title and H1 tags on the header image... H1 tags can be replaced by your own logo in the admin section, the same way you do with the default theme.
Live demo (http://1000-ads-canada.com/forum/index.php)

Some members using SMF in other languages than English have no buttons showing in their navigation menu.
If you need theme, you can generate buttons in your language here: Button generator (http://1000-ads-canada.com/buttons/index.php)
You will need to rename them to:
home.gif
help.gif
search.gif
calendar.gif
login.gif
logout.gif
register.gif
moderate.gif
and place them in your language folder:
Themes/sunset/images/language_folder/

Just installed this but none of the icons in the post box work. For example, when you click on the B bold type, the centering, the quote, or any other of the icons, nothing happens.  Also the new member awaiting approval link at the right hand top of the forum doesn't work either (which shows up when a new person registers and is awaiting admin approval).

Any help would be appreciated as I love this theme.

I'm using 2.0 Beta 3.1 if that is a factor.

  :o I adapted this theme from a 1.1.4 theme and as there is no documentation about what has been changed, I probably missed a lot of things.
Thank you for reporting this, I will try to fix it as soon as I can  ;)

 This theme is based on the classic YaBB one so I had to recreate it from the beginning with the latest version to make sure there is no bug left. I am glad it only took 995 downloads before I received the first bug report. Thanks a lot Sipko.
You can delete the theme you have on your forum and download the new version or overwrite the old files with FTP. There is probably a lot of modifications and I can't list them all.
I don't have the registrations set to have an admin to approve members so I couldn't test the link but it should be displayed. If it doesn't, let me know.
Thank you again.

I installed this theme and I really like it, good job. I have a problem though, when I change to one of the language packs such as brazil - the center menu options disappear (profile, admin, calendar, etc...). They are still there because I can mouse over them, see the links appear in the bottom of the browser, and then click on them to get back to english.

Any ideas? I would like to use the theme but need to use other language packs too.

Oh, one other comment is that you could probably reduce the size of the banner image a great deal - I took it down from 144kb to 20kb.
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on August 14, 2008, 02:12:55 PM
Thanks for the compliments. I only made the buttons in English but they are all based on the Classic YaBB SE's theme buttons so you can move the images from there to the language image folder of your 2.0 Sunset theme.
There is also an option in admin allowing you to display text links instead of images.
Theme Settings > 2.0 Sunset > Uncheck: "Show buttons as images instead of text"
I didn't realize the size of the banner would be a problem, thanks for letting me know. I will see what I can do.

Nice work bud! What about to translate it in spanish? I need it!  ;)
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on August 20, 2008, 11:46:41 AM
The only files you would need to use this theme in a Spanish forum would be the ones in the images folder.

Like I explained in my previous post you can use the ones from the Classic Yabb SE theme you have in your installation

Or rename the folder:
Themes/sunset/images/english/
To:
Themes/sunset/images/spanish/

If this doesn't work you may have to rename it to: spanish_latin, spanish_es, spanish_latin

If you need any help you can also PM me the URL of your forum and I will find a solution for you. I don't really know much about forums running other languages than English  :)

Ok, it works fine with the images! Is it possible to change all the english texts in this version too?
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on August 21, 2008, 10:52:20 AM
To change the English text you will need to install the Spanish language pack. I just checked the download section of Simplemachines and I didn't find any Spanish language pack for SMF 2.0, so I am not sure if it can be done.
You will probably have to search the forum or ask the question in a new topic.

Really good skin, looks professional! Thanks a lot, chadon!

I have a question about it, though. I can't find the way of displaying the options "Show new replies to your posts" and "Show unread posts since last visit", which usually can be found in the forum header. How can I restore  or maybe access them from another forum page?

Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on September 03, 2008, 10:39:55 AM
Thanks for the compliment Poolhall.
The theme is based on the classic Yabb SE one and this function is not available but it can installed easily.

Open index.template.php

Find:
echo '
', $txt['hello_member'], ' <b>', $context['user']['name'], '</b>', $context['allow_pm'] ? ', ' . $txt['msg_alert_you_have'] . ' <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=pm">' . $context['user']['messages'] . ' ' . ($context['user']['messages'] != 1 ? $txt['msg_alert_messages'] : $txt['message_lowercase']) . '</a>' . $txt['newmessages4'] . ' ' . $context['user']['unread_messages'] . ' ' . ($context['user']['unread_messages'] == 1 ? $txt['newmessages0'] : $txt['newmessages1']) : '', '<br />

After add:
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unread">', $txt['unread_since_visit'], '</a> <br />
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=unreadreplies">', $txt['show_unread_replies'], '</a>

EDIT:
The theme has been updated in the download page. There is no need to modify the file if you have the latest version.

Thanks to poolhall's ideas, I made a new blank button so you can translate the navigation images in other languages.
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.1000-ads-canada.com%2Fforum%2FThemes%2Fsunset%2Fblank.gif&hash=ff6ed525ae548d6fb55f8b68d3a1ee47070c989f)
Here is the images you need in Themes/sunset/images/language_folder/
home.gif
help.gif
search.gif
calendar.gif
login.gif
logout.gif
register.gif
moderate.gif
and more if you have mods installed.

If some of you want to share your translated images, you can post them here and I will add them to the theme download page. Thanks.

Edit: Check the download page for this theme to find out how you can create the buttons in your own language.

chadon,

Would it be possible for you to add links to last posts in the Last Post column, like it made on the default theme?
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: poolhall on September 03, 2008, 09:32:43 PM
Another thing that I noticed is that a moderator warning issued to a user does not show up on the boards even if the option Show warning status to all users is checked in the Warning System settings. If you switch the skin to a default one, you can see the warning.

I am not sure what you mean. If you are talking about the last n posts displayed at the bottom of the home page, it works on my test site and you have to set it in Configuration => Themes and Layout => Themes settings => 2.0 Sunset Theme and enter the number of posts you want to display in the following field:
QuoteNumber of recent posts to display on board index

I will look into the warning message issue. I have never tested that function so I am not sure where to look. Can you tell me where the warnings are supposed to be displayed?
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: poolhall on September 04, 2008, 03:51:04 PM
I mean this:

(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg234.imageshack.us%2Fimg234%2F2420%2Flastpostgb5.jpg&hash=a8dddc5227e2ec8f7217f9667d06a7260a716e3d)
I highlighted the links to the last posts red.

A warning displayed below the avatar:
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg186.imageshack.us%2Fimg186%2F2498%2Fwarningnp1.jpg&hash=63069e3fd6e09b850aefe51c5e7c31c906f502cb)

And another issue, please look at the green bar at the top of the board:
(https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg211.imageshack.us%2Fimg211%2F3193%2Ftopbarxn0.jpg&hash=9de8dbe03496a17f771a917dada5c55f12cb5947)

The highlighted columns Board Name, etc , are not corresponding to the columns of the board. I'm not sure, maybe it's better to not have that bar at all or make it exactly like the board columns.
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset

QuoteThe highlighted columns Board Name, etc , are not corresponding to the columns of the board.
I didn't notice that and yes it shouldn't be there. The Classic Yabb theme had the same bug so if it has been fixed, it shouldn't be too hard to correct it here.
I will do it tomorrow and let you know what to do about the other features then.

The theme has been updated without the column displaying board name, topics, posts, last posts.
If you want to manually fix it, you have to remove the following code from MessageIndex.template.php

<tr class="titlebg">
<td colspan="2">', $txt['board_name'], '</td>
<td width="6%" align="center">', $txt['board_topics'], '</td>
<td width="6%" align="center">', $txt['posts'], '</td>
<td width="22%" align="center">', $txt['last_post'], '</td>
</tr>

I will work on your other requests tomorrow.  ;)

Quotechadon,

I'd like to reiterate that I really appreciate your efforts!

If I want to share my stuff it has to be good and you are a great helper  ;)

Post by: poolhall on September 04, 2008, 11:19:15 PM
Thanks, chadon, it worked! Will be patiently waiting for implementing other requested features, if possible. :)

I have a couple more questions/suggestions.

How can I change the color of hyperlinks in posts without changing the color of boards' and topics' names? Now hyperlinks are indistinguishable from regular text unless you accidentally hover the mouse over the text.

And the other question, would it be possible for you to change positioning of Locked Topic and Sticky Topic icons and to move them to the right of topic name, like it is in the default theme?
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on September 05, 2008, 09:46:42 AM
OK, I updated the theme in the theme download section with the mods listed below except the link color in posts. If some of you don't want the new features, you will probably figure out what to do to remove them from the install instructions  :)

1. To add the last post icon link:

Open MessageIndex.template.php

Find:

<span class="smalltext">', $topic['last_post']['time'], '<br />', $txt['by'], ' ', $topic['last_post']['member']['link'], '</span></td>

Before add:
<a href="', $topic['last_post']['href'], '"><img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/icons/last_post.gif" alt="', $txt['last_post'], '" title="', $txt['last_post'], '" style="float: right;" /></a>

2. To show warning status

Open Display.template.php

Find:

// Since we know this person isn't a guest, you *can* message them.
if ($context['can_send_pm'])
echo '
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm;sa=send;u=', $message['member']['id'], '" title="', $message['member']['online']['label'], '">', $settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/im_' . ($message['member']['online']['is_online'] ? 'on' : 'off') . '.gif" alt="' . $message['member']['online']['label'] . '" border="0" />' : $message['member']['online']['label'], '</a>';
}
}
// Otherwise, show the guest's email.
elseif (in_array($message['member']['show_email'], array('yes', 'yes_permission_override', 'no_through_forum')))
echo '
<br />
<br />
<a href="', $message['member']['show_email'] == 'no_through_forum' ? $scripturl . '?action=emailuser;sa=email;msg=' . $message['id'] : 'mailto:' . $message['member']['email'], '" rel="nofollow">', ($settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/email_sm.gif" alt="' . $txt['email'] . '" title="' . $txt['email'] . '" border="0" />' : $txt['email']), '</a>';

// Done with the information about the poster... on to the post itself.

Replace by:

// Since we know this person isn't a guest, you *can* message them.
if ($context['can_send_pm'])
echo '
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm;sa=send;u=', $message['member']['id'], '" title="', $message['member']['online']['label'], '">', $settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/im_' . ($message['member']['online']['is_online'] ? 'on' : 'off') . '.gif" alt="' . $message['member']['online']['label'] . '" border="0" />' : $message['member']['online']['label'], '</a>';
}

// Are we showing the warning status?
if (!isset($context['disabled_fields']['warning_status']) && $message['member']['warning_status'] && ($context['user']['can_mod'] || !empty($modSettings['warning_show'])))
echo '
<br />
', $context['can_issue_warning'] ? '<a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=profile;u=' . $message['member']['id'] . ';sa=issueWarning">' : '', '<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/warning_', $message['member']['warning_status'], '.gif" alt="', $txt['user_warn_' . $message['member']['warning_status']], '"/>', $context['can_issue_warning'] ? '</a>' : '', '<span class="warn_', $message['member']['warning_status'], '">', $txt['warn_' . $message['member']['warning_status']], '</span>';
}
// Otherwise, show the guest's email.
elseif (in_array($message['member']['show_email'], array('yes', 'yes_permission_override', 'no_through_forum')))
echo '
<br />
<br />
<a href="', $message['member']['show_email'] == 'no_through_forum' ? $scripturl . '?action=emailuser;sa=email;msg=' . $message['id'] : 'mailto:' . $message['member']['email'], '" rel="nofollow">', ($settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '<img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/email_sm.gif" alt="' . $txt['email'] . '" title="' . $txt['email'] . '" border="0" />' : $txt['email']), '</a>';

// Done with the information about the poster... on to the post itself.

3. To change link color in posts

Open style.css

Find:
*/.bbc_color a{ color: inherit;}

Replace the word "inherit" by the color of your choice in this format #000000

4. To move the locked and sticky topic icons

it can certainly be done but I looked at the code in the default theme for this function and I have a hard time to understand it and it seems there is a lot to do to move two of the icons from the rest of them. Maybe someone else can give you the answer if you open a new topic in the support section.
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset

Thanks chadon!

Regarding hyperlinks color, I actually tried yesterday changing style.css here:
.bbc_color a{   color: inherit;}

but the boards names and topics names, which are also hyperlinks, would change their color too!

 >:( That classic theme is full of bugs and sorry, I should have tested it before.

In style.css, you can add this code at the end of the file:
.post a {color:#000000;font-weight: bold;}
You can change the color and remove the font weight mention if you don't want bold text in your links.
I tested it this time and it works  ;D

Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: poolhall on September 06, 2008, 12:35:26 AM
chadon, I hate to bother you that much, but I am again with the hyperlink color question :)

When I change .post a color, it also changes the color of quotes headers in the posts (Quote from: vanex on Yesterday at 10:23:37, for example) because they are also hyperlinks. And also this doesn't affect links color in private messages.
How can I correct these two issues too?
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on September 06, 2008, 10:23:08 AM
 What I do to edit the style.css is to look at the html source of the page and look for the element I need to edit. In your case it would be:

<div class="quoteheader"><a href="

In style.css, I look for the mention "quoteheader" and here is what I find:
The "Quote:" and "Code:" header parts... */.quoteheader, .codeheader{ color: #030303; text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; font-size: x-small; line-height: 1.2em;}/*

As you can see there is no link style for that portion so all you have to do is to add it in the file:

.quoteheader a {color:#000000;}
You might want to duplicate the line for codeheader as well.

With the explanation I gave you, you should find out what to do with the private messages, if not let me know. ;)

chadon,

What if for some elements div class is not defined? I see in the html source there is <div style="font-weight: bold;... for subject links inside every post (above dates) that I'd like to change too because they are too big and are repeated with every post and don't really give any useful information. Is there a way I can change it?

and remove style="font-weight: bold;"

Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on September 10, 2008, 10:39:43 AM
 I didn't have this feature enabled and I didn't see this bug. It does show up but with black font in the black background.
I upgraded the zip file by moving it above the SMF copyright.
If you want to fix it yourself, you can modify the font or the background color in style.css or like I did:

In index.template.php find and delete this code:

// Show the load time?
if ($context['show_load_time'])
echo '
<div align="center" class="smalltext">
', $txt['page_created'], $context['load_time'], $txt['seconds_with'], $context['load_queries'], $txt['queries'], '
</div>';
}

function template_html_below()
{
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $txt, $modSettings;

// The following will be used to let the user know that some AJAX process is running
echo '
<div id="ajax_in_progress" style="display: none;', $context['browser']['is_ie'] && !$context['browser']['is_ie7'] ? 'position: absolute;' : '', '">', $txt['ajax_in_progress'], '</div>';

find:
<a href="' . $scripturl . '">', $context['page_title'] != "$context[forum_name] - Index" ? "$context[forum_name] - " : '', $context['page_title'], '</a><br />
add right after:

';
// Show the load time?
if ($context['show_load_time'])
echo '
<div align="center" class="smalltext">
', $txt['page_created'], $context['load_time'], $txt['seconds_with'], $context['load_queries'], $txt['queries'], '
</div>';
}

function template_html_below()
{
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $txt, $modSettings;

// The following will be used to let the user know that some AJAX process is running
echo '
<div id="ajax_in_progress" style="display: none;', $context['browser']['is_ie'] && !$context['browser']['is_ie7'] ? 'position: absolute;' : '', '">', $txt['ajax_in_progress'], '</div>';
echo '
<br />

Thank you very much for creating the blank buttons. I'll give that a try.

I also need the spanish language pack, I need to check to see if someone has created one for version 2.0 yet. I think that people are waiting until this version is stabilized / mature.

Again, great job on the skin. The size of the image is an issue for me since I want overseas users to access this and bandwidth is not nearly as good as here. It is easy to reduce the image size, a program like photoshop allows you to "save for web".  Reducing the size of the image and turning on http compression brings the size of most pages down to around 40kb.
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on September 20, 2008, 11:36:19 AM
Two complaints about the size of that image, I guess this is becoming a priority :). I updated the package with a 44kb version of the same one and if any of you would like to update it without reinstalling the theme you can get it in the demo forum:
http://1000-ads-canada.com/forum/Themes/sunset/images/titlebg.jpg

I am part of the translation team and I know there is some people working on the Spanish language pack. If it's not available yet, it will be soon :)

Thanks for your feedback tkoenings.

If you had this theme installed in the beta 3 and recently upgraded to the beta 4 version of SMF you will need two extra template files.
You can download the ones attached here and place them in your /Themes/sunset/ folder. The theme pack in the download section has also been upgraded with the new files.
Thank you TheVDM for your bug report  ;)

I found one thing inconvenient in Sunset for SMF 2.0 beta4: when composing a post, the Subject field is below the textarea, this is not compatible with people's regular habit.

Please move the Subject field up to above the textarea.

If the author really love the current layout, could you please add an option for us to move it up?

Another request:

At the top of the page, there shows welcome messages. Could you please add a new feature to show current user's avatar on the left of those welcome messages?

Thanks.

Baijianpeng,
I updated the Post.template.php attachment file in my previous post with a fix for the subject field location. The theme pack has also been updated.
I will see what I can do to add the member's avatar in the header and I will get back to you when I find a solution.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Great ! I applied your new version and the subject field now appears above the textarea.

Thank you very much!

Another suggestion: Can you make that Extra Options link on the same page EXPANDED by default? Now it is collapsed by default and some users who are not familiar with SMF can't find the place to attach file and image. I think make it expanded is a better idea.

Thanks.

Since the author is so responsive, I would like to report two bugs to help improving this theme.

1.  When enter the Admin backend, Sunset theme can't show those Admin images. Those images were in the Themes/default/images/admin folder. It seems that Sunset did not retrieve them from there but tried to load them from the own /images/admin folder.

2.  The footer of the page, "Powered by" should be in the same line with following text, but not. See attached screenshot.  Oh, my god, I just noticed that I can't attach files here. But I am sure you understand what I mentioned.

 I understood what you meant with the copyright line  :)
Here is how you can fix it.
In the index.template.php file
find:
', theme_copyright(), '
add before:
<br />

I checked in my websites running with the beta 4 and this theme and the admin images are showing properly with the path to Themes/default/images/admin/

You can try to do the following test:
Access the admin page where the images don't show with the default theme. View the page source code and look for the URL path of an image that didn't show with the Sunset theme.
The path should be a full one like this: domain.tld/forum/Themes/default/images/admin/image-name.png
If you only have:
images/admin/image-name.png
then you have a bug with your installation. If the full path is showing with the default theme, let me know what version you have and I will look more into it.

About the expanded extra option link, I would also like to know how to fix it. Most of the members in my forum don't even know they can attach files and I have never been able to find a solution for that. I will try to look for it harder and let you know if I find a solution :)

I have been tring to find a way to add the member's avatars in the header today but I still have a hard time to get it in a correct location. I will keep you updated if I can get it done.

Maybe the admin images error was caused by my bridge. I had integrated SMF 2.0 beta4 into Joomla! 1.5.7 by SJSB bridge.

Maybe the Extra Option expanding needs some Core SMF code to be modified. Hope the SMF developer team will fix this, or give us the option at backend to set it expanded by default.

Thanks for your kindly help.
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on September 28, 2008, 02:14:41 AM
I found a solution about the expanded option link. It was in fact easier than I tought.

In Post.template.php
Find:
// Code for showing and hiding additional options.
if (!empty($settings['additional_options_collapsable']))
echo '
var currentSwap = false;

and replace the word false by true.

Thanks for your question. Now I can do the change so my forum's members can post files :)

Hi Marc

This has nothing to do with theme files but you can find instructions on how to do this here:
http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/How_do_I_add_buttons_to_SMF_2.0

QuoteMay I change the height of the header and if yes where can I do this?
Hi Linda
In the index.template.php of the theme's folder find:
<td valign="middle" height="261" align="left">';

And replace the 261 value with the one of your choice.

QuoteI'd like to change the logo, colour the header and put on the left side my little logo, could you also tell me how to do this?
I am not sure if I understand your question but if you want to replace or modify the header image, you will have to replace it by giving the same name to your new image and placing it in the same folder as the existing one:
yoursite.com/Themes/sunset/images/titlebg.jpg

If you would like to ad a logo above the header image and if Sunset is your deflault theme, you have to go to your admin panel under Configuration > Current theme  and enter the URL of your logo in the following field:

Logo image URL:
(leave blank to show forum name or default logo.)
If Sunset is not your default theme go in
Themes and layout > Theme settings and click on the 2.0 Sunset theme link.

I hope this helps.  :)

Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on January 28, 2012, 08:07:51 PM
To make the forum wider, you will have to open index.template.php, search for the following code:
width="950" and change the 950 value with the width of your choice. You will find it 3 times in the file and you will have to replace all 3.

The header image has also been set to be displayed with a width of 950 pixels so if you want to have a wider forum, this image will have to be replaced. I am sorry but I did this theme years ago and I don't have the original image to give you anymore.

Yes you can use a percentage but you may have problems with the header image if the resolution of some computers is greater than the width of the image.

Hi Chadon
I very much like the theme and I can match it into the rest of my site. But I have a strange issue which I will try and explain.
I just enabled some custom fields for registration, now when I go to look at the forum profile for anyone the fields are there but they move, for example the space between the top section and the custom fields keeps getting bigger by adding one line about every second.
This only happens in IE9, in IE8 the fields do not move but they are not lined up with the descriptions.
This problem does not happen in Firefox.
Have you any idea what this could be? Or any clue to where I should look.
There is no problem in the default curve theme. So I am assuming it is something in the 2.0 Sunset theme.
Many thanks
John

I have looked at the coding but it is beyond me, though there is a tick function set to 1 second intervals in that page, so that is probably causing it, but why I do not know.
I have PM's you a password as you will only be able to see it if logged in.

Post by: chadon on January 31, 2012, 05:43:46 PM
I was able to reproduce the problem on your forum and on mine as well and managed to get a fix by removing the tick fonction but I have no explanation on why it is happening and what this function is needed for.  ???

The tick function is in the Profile.template.php file from the default theme so if you want to use my fix, you have to place a Profile.template.php attached here in the sunset theme folder. I can't say if it's a safe mod or if there won't be any side effects but it did get rid of the bug and if you plan to do it, it's at your own risk, I am sorry for not being able to be of a better help. :(

                                        if (oldSignature != currentSignature)

                                                document.forms.creator.signature.value = currentSignature.replace(/\r/, "").substring(0, maxLength);
                                            currentSignature = document.forms.creator.signature.value.replace(/\r/, "");

Hi Chadon
Many thanks for this. As far as I can see the tick function updates the character count in the signature. Removing it should not give a problem but I am trying to seek some further information on this. Strange that it only affects your profile and not the default one, there must be some interaction somehow.
Thanks for all your prompt help

Hi Justjim and thank you for the compliment.

Near the end of the style.css file you will see the code needed for everything in the header under ".top".

The page and forum title is within this code:
.top h1 {    color: #F0FFF0;

and the "welcome, guest login, etc" is below the previous code:

.top p {    color: #C0C0C0;

Hi!  this is by far the best template i have found so far.. could yo please help me change the background color and add a repeating image instead. i am refering to the background image of all the pages which is currently black.  And also where the link to the sunset image is located for when i want to change it.

many MANY THANKS!
Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on July 01, 2012, 09:41:42 AM
Hi Eafshar, thank you for the compliment. :)

To modify the background you can modify the style.css file located in the sunset folder.

At the begining of the file find the following code:

body {background : #000000;}

and replace it with:

body
{
background-image:url('images/name-of-image.jpg');
background-color:#000000;
}

You will have to replace name-of-image.jpg by the name of the file by the one you want to use and upload this file in the /themes/sunset/images folder of your forum.
The background color #000000 is for a black color but you can replace it with a valid hml color code and find it in websites like the following ones:
http://www.google.com/search?q=html+color+codes

To replace the sunset image in the header you will have to name the file you want to use "titlebg.jpg" and place it in the images folder of the sunset theme or replace titlebg.jpg with the name of your image in the following code located at the end of the style.css file:

.top
{
    background: url(images/titlebg.jpg) #E9F0F6 repeat-x;
}

I haven't tested the codes I'm giving you so if you have any trouble, let me know and I will look deeper into this.  ;)

Thank you Chadon!

i used

body
{
   background-image: url('images/pattern_1.jpg');
   background-repeat: repeat;
}

and

deleted the .topr background as i wanted to have the same background as the rest of the site.

It is working very well!  However i am also interested in changing the width of the top banner
check http://consciousnesscentre.ca/forum/ (http://consciousnesscentre.ca/forum/) .   please direct me as to where the width of the top banner is controled.  Thank you!

It's looking good.  :)

The width of the banner can be changed in index.template.php file.

Find:
<td valign="middle" height="261" align="left">

and add a value or a percentage for the width like this:

<td valign="middle" height="261"  width="70%" align="left">

and:
<td valign="middle" align="right">
can become:
<td valign="middle"   width="30%" align="right">

Title: Re: 2.0 Sunset
Post by: chadon on July 02, 2012, 06:01:01 AM
There is no value set for the height of the image, the 261 value is the height of the header.

The easiest way would be to modify the height of the image with a software like, Photoshop or Gimp or you can modify the index.template.php file to find:

<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" style="margin: 4px;" alt="', $context['page_title'] != "$context[forum_name] - Index" ? "$context[forum_name] - " : '', $context['page_title'], '" />

and replace it with:

<img src="', $settings['header_logo_url'], '" style="margin: 4px;" height="X" width="Y" alt="', $context['page_title'] != "$context[forum_name] - Index" ? "$context[forum_name] - " : '', $context['page_title'], '" />

I just wanted to say thanks for this theme. You did an awesome job on it and I think it will fit my site well.

I have a question for you. When I put my logo on it, I had a hard time reading the text. Well I edited it and changed the font color and made the font bigger. Now I want to shorten some of the text, since it is bigger, so it looks better. I got everything pretty much cut down to size but I am having a hard time with the part that tells you if you have PM's. I want to change where it says,"Hey, User , you have 9 messages, 0 are new" to "Hey User , you have 0 new messages". I edited the index.template.php file and got it down to where it now says, "Hey, User , you have 0 are new". My problem is that all the test is stored in global variables and I don't know where to find them at. The variable for "Hey," is $txt['hello_member'] and the variable for "are new" I think is stored in $txt['newmessages0'] and/or $txt['newmessages1'].

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Title: 2.0 Sunset - Switch main navi from graphics to text links
Post by: debiwebi on November 24, 2015, 08:27:16 PM
Hopefully this is the right place to ask a question, I see it's been a couple of years since anyone has posted here.

I've been using 2.0 Sunset for almost a year now and still really love it. I redid the graphics for the navigation, but am now thinking I'd like to just go with plain text rather than graphics for the main navigation, because I may want to add a mod (or two) that could affect those links.  http://speakingofseth.com/

Is this something you can tell me how to do? I'm not a coder, but can fumble my way around enough to get by.

Thanks.

Hi

All depends what you want to do. If you only want to delete the background image, you have to edit the file Themes/sunset-2-0-1-5/style.css

Find the following code:

.top
{
background-color: #FFFFFF;
background-image: url(images/titlebg.jpg);
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}

and replace with:

.top
{
background-color: #FFFFFF;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
}

You will also need to change the white background #FFFFFF with the color of your choice.
http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_colors.asp

Let me know if you need more help.

Okay, thanks, I didn't know if there was someplace other than the style sheet that I needed to change. I didn't want to end up with pesky missing image symbols. I will give that a try this week and if I run into problems I'll definitely give you a shout.

Oops, I guess we misunderstood each other.

I would like to not have images for the main navigation links: the links for home, help, search, log in, register (see attachment).

I just want them to be text links. Is there a way I can do that? If the change will affect all the other links throughout the forum, that's fine too.

Hi, I am sorry but it has been years since I used this theme or updated it and it seems that the mod you are talking about is the same. You should probably get rid if the theme or the mod or both.

As for PHP 7.0 I have not tried it but I doubt it would be a problem. If the theme doesn't work, it would rather come from its html code with newer browsers than its php code with newer php versions.
