Title: Newsletter enhancement
Post by: DenDen60 on May 03, 2008, 10:01:20 AM
Hi,

I look at all the mods that are out there. I even took a look at TP since I use it a lot, and I havent found any mod to enhance the newsletter component of SMF.

It would be interesting to be able to evaluate the success of the newsletter by analyzing how many people read the newsletter and which link was most or least read so that we can better pull people into participating in the forum.

As anyone done something like that or would be interested in doing it?

Nice idea. I can do that mod if you need it. I would need to encode the links with a tracking system and add a 1 by 1 pixel track opens their email client would need to support images in order to track if somoene viewed the message.

I think it would be a great asset for all of us.

Ideally it should answer to the need of those who have several main subjects in there forum.

Example, someone who has a forum that deals with OSs and covers XP, Mac and Linux, coud have three seperate newsletters. The MOD should be able to cover this as well as having a link to let people removed themself from the list.

IMHO of course

I will be sending a few newsletters this week. As I do, I will write down some ideas on what might be good options to include in the Newsletter enhancement MOD. And of course, since I am using SMF 1.1.4, I will see if there are still needed in SMF 2.

It's unfortunate that I don't have any coding skill because I would give a hand. I will be there to test them though. ;-)
