Ok, here are some things I would like to se, most of them probably easy to add...
1) Ability to choose in board settings whether restricted membergroups can view the board or the board and it's topics.
Let me explain - say that I want to have a board which I want to disable guests from entering it. Ok, this is already possible. But, I want my guests to know that it is there, just not being able to open it, or I want them to be able to enter the board and view all topic titles, but not to be able to open them, until they register. This is very important, I want to have sections only for registered users, but they don't even know that they exist when they visit the forum...
2) When will we see an enhanced quick reply by default?
Now you'll probably say many users don't need it. Well, I can say only one thing - that's the first plugin to be installed on every SMF forum I'm a member of. You can always leave a choice whether to use the "useless" quick reply, or the enhanced one.
3) More moderation options.
Now this could be very usefull - can you add a field under the reply box (or a BB code or something, but BB code would complicate it), where moderators could enter a reason why they've edited a topic, and administrators could enter "quick responses" in the admin panel (like "Piracy is forbidden" or "Dont use ALLCAPS" or things like that), so when a moderator enters some text there, or chooses one of the predefined responses, it will automatically add it in a well shaped form at the end of the post.
Another usefull moderation tool would be an AllCaps normalizer.
4) Why aren't membergroups under member names colored with the membergroup color? This is a one-minute tweak, and I don't understand why it hasn't been done in the first place...
Quote2) When will we see an enhanced quick reply by default?
Probably never. Quick reply is intended for a quick reply not a message with lots of formatting / extras :)

3) More moderation options.
2.0 has some more of these although not the ones you're asking for
1. Can be done in 1.1.x with the View Boards Only mod - http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=610
2. You'll need a mod for enhanced quick reply. Quick reply is meant to be quick. Adding smilies and/or bbcode makes it sluggish.
3. Reason for editing: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=349
(although it doesn't allow predefined responses).
Disable Shouting (caps) http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=869
karlbenson, thank you for the links! I knew about some of those mods (I wanted to point out it should be built-in), but I have to admit I did not know about the last two... Anyway, waiting for SMF 2.0 versions for all of them...
(and still hoping developers will consider at least numbers 1 and 4 to be built in as soon as possible :))

I concur completely. I want to allow guests to browse topics but not open them in certain restrictive boards. Gives more reason to register without being forced. I will also wait until the mods work for v2
