Title: [Theme] XdN Classic for SMF 1.0e
Post by: Xenomorph on January 10, 2005, 02:03:19 AM
Just a simple, dark theme that kinda goes along with the colors I have used for my web site. Its based on the Classic YaBBSE Theme that comes with SMF.

Any comments are welcomed.

Well, you even have the "theme_info.xml" done and everything.  And without knowing too, quite good ;).

I like it especially because it doesn't hide my board enhancements/add-on's I'm finding other theme's are doing unfortunately.

I've set this one as my default colors and my admin really like it.  So I'm quite pleased with the work!  :)

What the hell are you trying to do?

Either the file you tried to access is off-limits to you, or your IP address has been banned.

whoops!!

IPs from 81.* were banned from my site. some idiot was spamming my forum and comments section of my site. he kept changing hosts, and i was trying to ban IPs. banning entire ranges was the only way i could do it.

the IPs are all unblocked now, so anyone who couldnt reach my site should be able to now. (there were like 6 IP ranges blocked)

isnt it a little sad / weird though?

he uses my name for his forum user name, and posts a picture of me as his forum avatar.

im wondering what kind of sad life he must lead in for him to get such a kick out of that kind of stuff.

also, i made an update to my theme, i'm gonna try to update the first post with the info.

Nice theme!

Though, I'd like to make one note: I visited your calender and I noticed that on the selected day it's very hard to read the event. I think you either should change the background color or the textcolor to get some more contrast.

Further I think it's really smooth.

Do you also deliver pizza?  ;D

yes i deliver pizzas

im trying to figure out how to change more settings in a theme. i cant find where i can alter the colors of the displayed text and some other things in the theme just yet.

EDIT:

ok, i found where the color settings are stored.

a ton of color settings are stored in the MySQL database or are hard coded in the PHP files INSTEAD of in the CSS file...
anyone know WHY this is?

changing the color scheme with the Calendar involves including the caldenda template file with a change in its hard coding since you cant change the colors it uses with the styles.css file.

DOUBLE EDIT:

ok, i updated the theme again... im gonna go update the first post.

There are a few calendar ones stored in the database, no more than that.

A couple are hardcoded (again, calendar... a few error messages) but again, very few.  The style.css file has 99% of the important colors.

do you know if future versions of SMF will move more stuff like that into the CSS file?

things like the background color of tables in the index.template, the color of the admin's name (on the list of members logged in), the calendar color settings, and some other stuff are hard coded (and only seem to work well with Light colored themes). all of those are ideal things to have controlled via the style.css file.

Unlikely for the online colors, because they are controlled in the administration center and not theme dependant.

So how can the calender font/background colours be changed? Great theme, just installed it.

Actually it is the font colour I`m interested in changing. Dark blue seems a poor colour against a black background.

Is this hard coded or within the css ?

I am talking about the calender by the way.

I want to add an extra button along the top, with the home, members etc.

Where would I add this in the template? As I am unsure of the font used in creating those buttons, I would have to re-create them all, so that the new button would match.

Thankyou.

hi....

i need to find the display.template file for this skin but it isnt in the directory? where can i find it?

There isn't a file in this theme called Display.template.php at all when you download it.  If you explain precisely what you are wanting to do, people might be able to assist in determining which file you would need to locate/edit otherwise for this theme.  It is possible you could copy the default Display.template.php or something to use instead.

Thanks.

Is it possible to get "Delete Selected" button in the manner of the existing white on black XDN buttons? Thank you.

If the the text is too large it can easily be renamed to "del selected".
