How do I make a test board?
Just make a board. Admin -> Forum -> Boards -Add Board. Call it whatever you like, then configure the modification with that number.
To configure, go to Admin -> Configuration -> Modifications -> Miscellaneous, and enter the number of the board that you want to ignore. Here's a screen shot:

Any chance to get working on 1.1.5?
Zero chance. SMF 1.1.5 has no Admin -> Configuration -> Modifications section. SMF 2.0 added the Modifications section so that adding a configuration interface would be easier for mod authors, and also to create a standard interface for configuring modifications. Mod authors can either install into the Miscellaneous section as I have for this mod, or they can add a new tab to Modifications if their mod requires a bigger screen. New modifications will increasingly become 2.0 only because mod authors want to use new features like this. It's too much trouble to write a separate old style interface to support a SMF version that is nearing obsolescence.
Well I guess I made that short story long. Here's the short answer: no.
Hey Deprecated... a nice interface for something I do manually now...
question: Can you update this to allow MULTIPLE boards to be ignored? i.e. I want to ingore boards 55 AND 88
Can anyone help modify this mod (or provide manual coding edits) to stop posts on the ignored board appearing in the 'Recent posts' in the Info Center?
Must be a simple code edit but I can't work it out...
Thanks
W
Do you have a 1.1.8 version that you could maybe patch up ... ?
I DESPERATELY need this for 1.1.8 please :D
I can not update to 2.0 so that is not an option.
Ignore Boards in 1.1.8 (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=297159.0)
Hi Depricated,
Am interested in this for a future upgrade from 1.1.9 to 2.0 RC 1-1. I have a test forum that I'm testing things with before I make the upgrade for my members.
Anyway, I see in your intro "but only if SMF's Ignore Boards Options is enabled." Can you explain how this is enabled? or does it rely on your mod to be installed. I can't find this option anywhere on either 1.1.9 or 2.0 RC1-1.
Cheers
Chas.
This doesn't seem to work for recent posts. Is there anyway to block a board from showing in recent posts under the info center?
it works for me in the recent posts section...

Could you share what you did differently? It only works for unread posts it seems as that other person confirmed. I read through a bunch of topics on the coding forum but nobody mentions how to do what I'd hope this mod would do on the 2.0 version of SMF.
as far as I recall, I did not do anything differently... I just applied the mod.
Is this mod still being maintained and 'supported'?
I could desparately use this as I have a board (with child boards) that has RSS feeds going into it. The members of the forum don't like to have to manually apply the 'ignore board' feature. And there is no way to set a default 'ignore board' for new members.
So will this be updated to work with 2.0 RC3 or later and is it still being maintained?
Also, since it only supports ignoring one board (I could use three or four, considering we also have a test board), if a main board is ignored, will that cause child boards to also be ignored?
Thanks!
it should continue to work on RC3. and no, it will only target one board (that does not include child boards)
Kindred,
Thanks for the info.
I crudely modded the mod a bit to allow for up to 5 ignored boards. It seems to be working fine on 2.0 RC3.
Is it ok to post my mod to this mod which will allow up to 5 ignored boards? Someone has asked me for it and I'd like to know if it's ok to attach here.
well i dont know alot of english but triying to understand alittle this mod can help me to hide some boards from the recent topics and post from the info center?
like a boards and his childboards?
no. just one single board
I installed the mod successfully and it is not working.
I have it set for just a child board. But even when I set it for a normal board it still doesn't work.
I'm running 2.0 RC1.2
Hi mr mod author. Thanks, but however I will like to ignor up to 10 boards. Please help drop the code as I can't figure it out.

You need to look at the code it installed and maybe duplicate it with a few changes.
But I can't do it myself
Of course you can.
Reinstall the mod and look at the files it installed in.
Wow I keep getting PM's because I mentioned that I CRUDELY modded this mod to support ignoring 5 boards. I'm not proud of this code, and in fact, I think it's a crude way to accomplish what I wanted.
There is no initialization, so you have to properly input the 5 boards that you want to ignore. If you don't enter the data for 5 boards, this mod may not work or it may screw up your board with bugs, I didn't test this.
Attached the file that contains my mod to this mod.
I am not taking over support of this mod, but only share this because people keep PMing me for it.
So here you go, please don't PM me if this works, doesn't work, doesn't do what you want it to, you don't know how to install it, or you want help to make it do something else. Now if you want to pay me to do something, that's a different story, but I don't work cheap! ;D LOL
If it's not appropriate that I share these changes here, feel free to delete my attachment or even this post.
I was using this on RC3. I have not yet tested it with RC4 to see if it will work or if it needs changes to install correctly.
Enjoy (or ignore)!
Rich
Oh pitfall, I installed the mod successfully, set it in admin in my RC3, but nothing worked.

He doesn't give support for that mod.
did you clear your smf cache?
How do you know nothing worked? Are posts from that board still listed in the recent posts list or the "Show all recent posts" page?

By clearing cache you mean hit CTRL F5, yes I did that. To answer the second question, yes post from that board is still listed on recent post as it is, when the mod has't be installed. Thanks
no... ctrl f5 is your local cache, not the server cache.
go to smf admin, maintenance, clear file cache
I guess the mod is not compactible with RC3 because I have tried my possible best yet nothing is still happening...
1- upgrade to RC4...
2- I have been using this with RC2, RC3 and RC4 successfully...
is this likely to be upgraded to rc5 or work with rc5?
it works fine....
ok thanks
I'm considering this mod -- but I really need several boards not to be "new" or "recent posts" -- I'm using a RSS Feed mod to those boards, and none of those auto-generated posts should be "new"
Questions:
1) Are there alternatives to this mod for SMF 2.0.2 --- other similar mods?
2) I see the person who hacked this for 5 boards -- ugh.... I may need to do it to a dozen boards -- all RSS feeds
3) The author is listed as "Depreciated" -- is that just the name of a person, or is it actually an indication that this mod is, well, "Depreciated"

Well, I applied the mod (actually the version posted here of doing 5 ignored boards) -- on my SMF 2.0.2 board
Mixed results:
1) Posts still marked as "new"
2)
However, "new" indicator on the board stays off Nope. That also turns on.
3) Posts still show up in the "Recent posts" list
4) "Show unread posts since last visit" -- does ignore the new posts
So I'm getting basically 1/3 functionality as the mod is described. It does cause the posts not to show up in "Show Unread Posts"
But it fails to NOT list those posts in the "Recent Posts" list. And fails by "lighting up" the new post indicator for the board.
I need
both all -- anybody have any alternate mod suggestions?
The ONLY thing that this mod ever did was to not display posts from the indicated board in the "recent posts" list. It does not stop the posts from being marked as new, it does not stop the posts from showing up in your RSS feed or in your "topics you have posted in with recent replies" list.
So, your item #4, which works, is the only thing this mod was ever intended to do.
Other functions would take more involved code, spread across multiple files, since other functions are handled in other files
Any update for this mod ?
An update to SMF 2.0.6 compatibility is scheduled for the near future. In fact I need it myself. I have a forum section for members to test stuff and that just junks up new posts for everybody else, so it's a "must have" for me. Seeya soon!
How about an upgrade to 2.0.10? ;)
Wish list: With a comma separated list for multiple boards!
I just want to limit what appears on the board index "info center". Quite a few boards should not be appearing there...
(don't mind doing it manually though - Kindred - if you have a tip ;))
It installs just fine on 2.0.10. :)
