Is there such a modification to make forum links go to a URL instead of a forum board? I looked in mods but I can't find one.
What exactly do you mean by "Forum Links"? Are you tallking about every link in your forum? Or just specific links?
And when you think about it, how can a link not go to a URL? I mean, if not a URL, what else would it link to, and how? How can you link to anything other than a URL?
Sorry, let me explain better..
When you have forum sections (ie: the forum index page).. I want to have a link that redirects to another URL and not a forum section.
So you want to create a new menu tab/button that adds a link to another website?
This documentation will be useful if thats what you want to do.
How do you add custom tabs to the Core (default) theme menu? (http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=564)
No, I want one of the forum section links not to go to a forum section, but instead I want it to redirect to another URL.
Other boards have this feature, so I figure there might be a Mod for SMF -- considering that it doesn't come with this feature.
Or, to explain again (another way).. when I create a forum section (in the administration area).. and put the forum name and description ETC.. I want to put the forum name and a URL. So when someone tries to click into that forum, they get redirected to that URL.
If worse comes to worse, I'll just create the forum section with the name I want and redirect it with .htaccess -- but I was hoping that there's a mod already made.
Redirection boards mod...

That's what I want -- thanks! :D
Np. I knew what you meant from reading your first post :)

Really! wow.. I knew what I meant too! lol
Meh.. I installed it on my 1.1.5 and it's all messed up.
The functionality for it in the admin area displays no text -- just textareas.
I think I'll just have to create the forum section I want and add a redirection for the UR: with htaccess.
*For anyone that's interested, I am trying to create a link for "support" on a hosting site. I don't want people asking for support on the forums, I want them to go to the support ticket system.
You need to update your language files for your theme or you just need to wait for the cache to update with the new language strings. Check your theme's Modifications.english.php (or w/e language you are using). Make sure the language strings for the mod were added.
It would be helpful if you use the correct terms, and will improve communications.
SMF is one forum, with one or more categories, each category with one or more boards. Please avoid the use of "forum section" which is non-descriptive to me.
It looks like you want a redirection board, a standard feature in SMF 2.0, but too bad not in 1.1.
It appears you have found a mod and are having problems with it. I suggest that you go to the modification's discussion thread and request help there.
