its looking good for the v3 as you can add articles.. and im thinking on a purchase..  ;)

Lots of portals let you add articles. Why pay for it?

Seems like a waste of money to me. Making a link directory script probably wouldn't take too much work. There doesn't seem to be much demand for them though.

yeps H.. i did pick up phpld.. the money wasnt the issue, but not sure what i will do with it as link directories can be a useful thing, but not sure if i will use it or??

depends, I suppose, on how much your time is worth.
Lets say your expert php programming time is worth $7 hr
would a script like that take 5 hours to develop,test,debug and document?

sometimes "free" and "do it yourself" cost more than you think.
If you dont belief me, take a look at this bathroom I fixed :(

you are right on that.. but any case the intergration bit was solved and wasnt too hard to manage..  ;)
