Due to the fact that I will be busy with the real life, I won''t have much free time to spend on the virtual one so I would really appreciate it if one of the admins or moderators will delete my account here. I tried to delete it myself yesterday but I got a message that the deletion needs to be approved. And today I saw that it wasn''t deleted yet, hence this topic.

I want also to profit from the occasion to say Good-Bye to this wonderful community where I spent a great deal the past 2 years and made some on line friends, like Shadow82, Justin, Depricated, bigguy and especially SmokyBlue. I want also to thank all those persons that helped me a great deal at the very begin like Oldiesman and SleePy.

My time spent here has been very productive, challenging and great. I have had tons of fun and learnt a lot of new things and for this I will always be grateful to this community.

And keep up the great work with Smf guys and good luck and success with the further development of this wonderful project :)

I have plans for road trips, but I am not out of running a forum on my site, using another forum software thats much easier to maintain over a worthless satellite connection.

Why do you have to get your account deleted for that?
If you want to say hi in a few weeks or months it would be cool.

I dont know why you say this cause I use a satelite connection when I am at sea and I have had no problems keeping a forum up to date etc ...

I use GotSKY (http://www.gotsky.com/) (Wildblue), and connection is quite useless when it rains or snows.

Edit: when I can get this service (http://www.airspeedinternet.com/) then I'll use SMF.

I know exactly what you mean about useless satellite connections.

Also keep in mind the alignment of the planets, blue moons, heavy wind, and days starting in y where connectivity is bad :P

in any case, have you tried administrating smf through the ;wap2 mode?  It's fairly more lightweight than the full loading layout :)

and then there is always opera mini.. and with the rc, its so sweet!  ;)

capa, i hope that Babjusi has some time to think on this..

everyone here knows how much he has contributed to smf, and the people using it.. he has been a big help on me and my coding as well as my designs.

im sorry, i am feeling really crappy right now, but the truth is Babjusi, or Adi, is one of my best friends, and the reason i keep pushing to be good.

i could do support like a majority and only stand behind my code, but Adi, he brought a sense of human-ness to this and made it fun..

why he isnt on the team, or doing paid support for smf, only he knows. he is one of the best coders i know, and yeps even if he isnt a graffix person, he is still number 1 in my book.

and Adi, no matter what you decide, and yes i know what you said yesterday, there is a place here for you, and you will always have a place with me.

no matter what.. that is what friends are for.  ;)

@ babjusi, I hate to see you go. I hope you come back and drop in a Hi! And i dont get why do you want to delete the account, you can just use it when you come back. Gaining some reputation takes time, and seeing your posts and helpful suggestions, that reputation wouldnt be gained again that quickly in future as it is now! Anyways... Good luck with everything you do in future...:)

H, as of now, Babjusi is on my site, he requested for me to take over his mods..

if he is deleted then so be it, and if not, that is ok too.

i think for now, a good break, everyone needs one, now and then, and should he decide to come back, then thats ok too, right?

but he wants me to have his mods and im in the process of dealing with them.. if i can get some assistance in moving them into my name, or if he has to do that, let me know.

I can see why account deletions, especially when an account has 6,000 posts should be moderated (in case the account was compromised, an irreversible action couldnt be done against the account) but if he's made his intent clear (and I think he has) why shouldnt he be allowed to delete it?

all these entreaties to 'reconsider' while well meaning, do him and SMF a disservice I think.  He may feel that simply 'leaving it alone' may not be enough for him, and with 6,000 posts there has to be some kinda addiction at play! lol

( or maybe he just wants to be shown some love, some pleadings, some 'please stay?')
who knows? just delete the account and set him free!

It's almost like this SMF is like some kinda cult, the only way to 'leave' is to 'kill yourself, i.e. Delete your account.
Why not delete or let him delete his account and be done with it?

Some people prefer their accounts to be deleted, instead of just leaving them online. And considering the size of this forum it wouldnt surprise me to see people leaving every six weeks or more.

wooha, there's more to this situation than is apparant on the outside.  That is why we have not deleted the account, as questioned.  Until that situation is resolved, it won't be deleted.  You can delete all you want, but once it's gone, it's gone.  I'd prefer to make sure it's going to be gone than have action taken rashly.

Now, normally, one of us goes through and approve account deletions on a monthly -- or so -- basis.   Since deletion pending deactivates an account and prevents notifications and whatnot, we just leave it to be caught in the next Maintenance. Database maintenance, pretty much.

The thing is that I got so addicted to Smf that I started to neglect other things in the RL. I know, many of you have been there too, right :D So I thought by deleting my account it would have been easier for me but now I got it under control. I am glad that it wasn''t deleted.
