Dear every1, especially support members.
I just install a new SMF 2.0 RC1 ...
And i move it along to a new webhosting.
The problem is when i login into my forum using firefox 3, i can't login forever, although i've selected forever option on login options.
But, when i use IE8 and Opera browser, its nothing wrong.
So, i just do this steps:
1. Clear cookies on firefox brower
2. Clear cache on firefox brower
3. Change the cookie's setting on my forum
4. Clear the cache of our forum
5. Restart the firefox, even i reinstall it freshly
Btw, this is one sample when i've login succeed:
http://MYDOMAIN/index.php?PHPSESSID=bb1002a327ca97a10e28af8ec5f308f7;
i'm just quite uncertain about the PHPSESSID
But, it's same as before... always logout automatically...
Any solution? Thanx.
Are you sure someone else isn't using your browser then clearing your data (Cache, cookies, etc.). If you are also logged out of other sites, then that is probably it.
And when you say you are always logged out, when is it you are logged out? After you close then open your browser, or just randomly?
Its fresh install :) No other user than me.
Once again, its always logout automatically when i login as admin nor usual registered member.
Notes: its just happen on Firefox, not on other browser.
Odd... Not quite sure as I don't really use Firefox, but are you sure (Under Privacy Settings) you don't have Firefox set to automatically delete cookies once Firefox is closed or something?
Its happen just on this new site, but not on my another site :)
Is it possible that the problem have related with the hosting? i think it should not.

Have a look for the PHPSESSID problem...
For login issues..
<input name="cookieneverexp" value="true" type="hidden" />
You can put this before </form> in your index.template.php
It should probably start working..
thanx for reply, remember, that its just happen on firefox 3 ...

Yet, Give it a try. :)
Still can't login either.
Maybe i should reinstall .. and check it one by one.
How about a test account for us to try this with on your board...

user: test
pasw: test4
Rules: no post anything, just sight seeing and chatting ofcourse :)
After you login using firefox or other browser, click some pages and then back to homepage.
If i use firefox, it will logout automatically.
If there is no any solutions, our web admin will reinstall it at this wednesday (April 22, 2009)
Thanx for replying.

its not working. thanx.
Aah maaan..! I gotta then think of something....will get back to you if i find anything..
please check it by your self.
i've supplied with user login sample.
Ok, its the PHPSESSID problem for sure..
When you login, it takes you to index.php?PHPSESSID.....
And when you click Home, it takes you just to index.php
So basically it logs you out as the session is not verified for that... (This is definitely the problem!)
Ok, so now time to find a solution..
thanx F.L.A.M.E.R for your attention... its also confusing me... its just happen on Firefox, not on other browsers.

Its not just firefox.. its in every browser.. I am using Chrome.. It does the same thing..
Have you tried removing the output compression for your site? Use repair_settings.php ?
-Edit-Spotted one more problem. It is surely the cookies.. Change your Cookie to the suggested one..
The Login page doesnt take the value 60, it gives incorrect password first. And then takes me to a page of login with the infinite minutes of login..

In my site, i've try it on IE8 and Opera 9, not yet on Chrome.
i just got this bad experience on FF3.
I think it should not have related with ompression output or not... because i've tried it on another hosting, its just fine.
Ok, i'll take your suggestion now.Cookie Name:
Recommended value: "SMFCookie11".
Queryless URLs: On
Output Compression: Off
Database driven sessions: On
the cookie name i use is SMFCookie11, like the recommended value.
Possible to give me FTP access ? I'll try a few things..?
If i spot anything, i'll let you know...?
-Edit-
Just found something related to the session problem..:-
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=304642.msg2020163#msg2020163
But as the person has done, the recommendation says not to do it so.. It could get messy.. (The problem is somewhat inter related)
And what is the relevancy with the browser, especially FF3?
Still wondering hhuh...!
Well, it maybe that IE is taking in sessions the different way as Firefox does.. And same with Chrome.. Its all about functionality..
IE is redirecting the PHPSESSID back to the index.php whereas both firefox and chrome doesnt. It stops at the first redirection which occurs and doesnt let further redirection.. (Somewhat like internal redirection is not allowed in Firefox and Chrome)
----------------------------------
Well, i'll try provide the maximum information i can....;) dunno about the solution yet..
thanx... just please remember that maybe the site will be reinstall on this wednesday.
thanx once again for your hardworking. :D keep smile!.
Is this an issue still? I notice the test account is no longer valid.
Had you run the 2.0 specific repair_settings.php tool for the forum once you had moved it. I take it you don't get the same results when you try this on a fresh install on that new hosting service?
I just saw this thread and wanted to note that I am having the same issues and have just given up on FF and gone to IE. My original posts are in this thread (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=305866.msg2024613#msg2024613) - I was seeing this issue on 7 of my own installations - 2 different hosts, and 4 different SMF versions. It was also happening on this site and the TinyPortal site, of course over which I have no control over cookies/database sessions, etc.
Something I did note was that it was only happening on my desktop computer. My husband's computer had no issues. I also narrowed it down to FF 3 (I think) by reinstalling FF 2 and the issue cleared up.
Now seeing this thread I'm thinking there's something screwy with FF3 but I don't know how to find it to pass it along to their devs?
its never solved.
So i have to install our forum. Fresh install ofcourse, and now i wouldn't get this problem anymore.
Thanx.
@HEB XI 1 well that looks like a client side issue, as you had it on all sites. So no real fault of SMF directly I would assume.
No, but can you test it on a fresh install without all the modifications you've made and see.
Any solutions for these problem.
As a newbie, likewise, I experience this problem
"logging out automatically". Related to the sessionid
described.
Please help.
Thanks
