Title: yahoo group functionality
Post by: bruce on March 30, 2005, 01:19:41 PM
hi...

we're looking for an app that can be used to allow us to give our users 'yahoo group' functionality. can the 'simple mind' app help in this regard? can it be configured to provide this kind of solution to our user on our servers?

we need to be able to provide the 'member/messaging/file (upload/download)' features to our users. basically, we want to allow users to create/manage their own groups, and allow users to join, etc...

are we asking the complete wrong questions to the wrong group!!!

if the app can't be used for this kind of function, does anyone know of an app/function that could provide this kind of functionality.

thanks

I'm afraid this software may not be exactly what you're looking for.

It's not designed for EXACTLY what you want.  While it is designed to allow for communication, it's more "opt-in" than groups or lists.  Forums are much more like newsgroups than like email groups.

But, the forum will send out notifications, if someone wants it to.  In many cases, this is what people really want... but it's also sometimes more involved than people used to Yahoo! Groups want.
