Title: Installing Mod.
Post by: YM on July 08, 2009, 04:41:39 AM
Hi guys,

I have downloaded SimplePortal for mine forums and I want to install it.
But it stuck at one file, my friend said that I had fill in the empty professions.
The empty professions are:
FTP Server
Username
Password
I use 000webhost and checked my MYSQL and I see this below.
mysql_host = mysql10.000webhost.com
mysql_database = a7942283_123s
mysql_user = a7942283_321s

So I did what my friend said and filled the empty professions like this.
FTP Server = mysql10.000webhost.com
Username = a7942283_321s
Password = Secret  :P

After I fill this in it can't connect what I am doing wrong?

I hope someone reply fast.  O:)

The password you need to provide is not the mysql_ data, but whatever you received from your host when you signed up. You should ask them for the details - they may not allow mods to be added.

I know my password because I choose the password.
But it can be possible that the host not allows to add mods.
Then I need to find other hosts.. Someone know a good hosts which accepts MODS?

Any host that lets you upload your own forum should be able to let you install mods. Usually, however, they're not free hosts.

Did 000webhost allow you to upload the forum to their server?

Not always, no.

When you uploaded the forum, you must have used a thing called FTP, so whatever details you used to upload that, you use them again for this.

There is a FTP login and upload details on the page.. Maybe if I use that settings maybe it will work

It works thanks dude :D would you help me with another problem ?

I installed a hour ago Simple Portal to my forums and it gave me error but Jblaze helped me and he said make a new directory in your package called '' temp '' so I did it then the Simple Portal would work.. after that I would to download and install a new theme but it gives me now an other error:

Package upload failed due to the following error:
"Although the package was downloaded to the server it appears to be empty. Please check the Packages directory, and the "temp" sub-directory are both writable. If you continue to experience this problem you should try extracting the package on your PC and uploading the extracted files into a subdirectory in your Packages directory and try again. For example, if the package was called shout.tar.gz you should:
1) Download the package to your local PC and extract it into files.
2) Using an FTP client create a new directory in your "Packages" folder, in this example you may call it "shout".
3) Upload all the files from the extracted package to this directory.
4) Go back to the package manager browse page and the package will be automatically found by SMF."

Someone knows what to do now ?

Is your /Packages directory CHMOD to at least 755? Also is /temp CHMOD to 755?

They are 777

Try making it 755. Some hosts don't like files and directories being 777.

Once it's installed it should activate unless you have a custom theme, in which case you may have to do some manual modification and installation.

I don't know much about SimplePortal to be honest, never used it.
