Ok, so here's deal. I'm using SMF in conjunction with TinyPortal where all new topics are posted on the front page in a single board. However, I only want the moderators there to be able to make new topics, everyone else is only entitled to reply to the aforementioned topics. I tried searching here and looking around on the forum but I can't make it happen. As of right now, the only one who can make topics there is the admin (me), everyone else can only make replies (I set the permission of the board to "reply only", hoping I could fix the moderators later).
Am I missing something here? It should be simple, but I just can't find it.
If the moderators are designated as moderators for that board, their permissions should enable them to do so anyway - I have a 1.1 instance that contains a reply-only board, once I added a moderator to it in the Board configuration, they were able to create new topics too.
Figured out the problem: I use custom groups and when I created my own moderators I selected it to have the same permissions; obviously it didn't work. Just resetting the permissions for the same group (global moderator) worked like a charm and it now works like it should.
I'll mark the topic solved :).
