The problem code that needs to be edited is here:
<div id="searcharea">';
echo '
<form action="', $scripturl, '?action=search2" method="post" accept-charset="', $context['character_set'], '">
<input class="inputbox" type="text" name="search" value="', $txt[search], '..." onfocus="this.value = \'\';" onblur="if(this.value==\'\') this.value=\'', $txt[search], '...\';" />';
Seems that Search button has a problem. can you fix it?
$txt[search] should be $txt['search'] in two places there...

Within teh style.css #logo { };
Tnx man ;)
• UPDATED 2.0 RC2
How do I expand the whole header area? I made my avatar 100x100 and the search overlaps it. Also my logo is bigger than the loner logo and the news is hidden behind it somehow.
Anyway, thanks for the help :D
I also noticed I cant find the copyright info at the bottom of the forum. I havent changed anything so Im not sure whats going on. I dont want to get in trouble.
yes .
Just to let you know Im using the 2.0 RC2, awesome Theme by the way. I just have those couple of issues Im dealing with.
Not sure how to fix them.

well, so does my wife .....?
I guess she too ends up dissatisfied at the end of the day.
Luckily, and what is usually the case in those situations, someone else comes along to take up the slack. ;)
@The Goblin, if you post or PM me a link to your site, we can get you fixed up.

Sent you a PM... Thank you ;D
For anyone else experiencing these issues:
To move search box over to allow for 100x100 avatars (my preference as well), open index.css, search for #searcharea, and change right: 1.5em; or whatever to right: 10em;. As simple as that.
To move the logo (this will have to be experimented with depending on the size of your logo), open index.css and search for #logo. Edit the top:##em; and left:##em or right:##em as needed. Experiment with it and you'll see how the logo is affected. Note: negative numbers (top:-3em;) are allowed.
To move the news (like the logo, this depends on personal preference), open index.css and search for #news. Edit the top:##em; and left:##em or right:##em as needed. Again. experiment with it and you'll see how the news line is affected. Note: negative numbers (top:-3em;) are allowed.
Finally, there seems to be an issue with the css id foot_wrap which prevent IE7 (at least) from displaying the SMF copyright information.
(http://img5.yfrog.com/img5/896/capturejab.png)
I simply removed the id="foot_wrap" from the <div> in index.template.php and it fixed IE7's issue. Furthermore, it does not seem to affect any browser I tested after its removal (FF, Google, IE7, or IE8). This is a limited list, but pretty much covers the browser bases.
Hope this helps someone.
Thank you SunKing for helping me fix the issues I had with this theme. I really appreciate the help. ;D
My forum looks Awesome now!
Glad I could help. Enjoy.
Thank for your help & Info sir. :)
Extending this problem to this thread: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=354099.20
The verification letters aren't appearing for new users trying to register.
I saw that , trying to fix it NOW.. ;)
fixed it:
upload a copy of Curve's :: [Registration.template.php] into [Loner templates] & the image worked for me ..??
Thanks! Which curve theme are you referring to though?
Default Curve
not Core -
Tried that...didn't work :-\.

Are you using smf 2.0 RC2 version of Loner theme? ? .. or the smf 1.1 version ?
I am using 2.0 :).
.. :)
....there is only one Curve theme Default in 2.0 RC2
upload a copy of Curve themes, :: [Registration.template.php] into [Loner templates] Hard Refresh your browser & the (image) will show.
I found the same problem with registration menu, but where could I find the curve template? :S

Have done that, and i did not help my problem. Just to clear out misunderstandings, i have copied [Registration.template.php] from the default folder into the Loner20 folder.
UPDATE:
Have investigated it a bit further and found that it is index.template.php that breaks the visual verification. However I do not know why.
I have fixed my problem by overwriting the [index.template.php] with the attached version.
I do not know why it fixes the problem, but my guess is that it might be some utf-8 encoding.
Good find ..
At first I thought things were going well when I switched to this theme. Yesterday I had a report that the captcha was not working and I found this thread. Downloaded the index.template.php from another poster and implemented what I though was a good fix. Two more people looking to sign up on my site reported that it was a dead end on firefox and ie8. My tests were on Chrome.
Last night I wanted to test the default theme to see if things were working there. Didnt get very far as I get errors anytime I try to switch themes. I am locked on loner and can't switch to another theme. I have no mods or packages installed and I am wondering if there is any reason I should not report this theme as dangerous?
report if wanted .... the theme works fine for me both; versions ..
It's not me or my themes fault you used a so called "fix i didn't provide" but a users
May I ask where the fix is that you provided so that I can try that?
Reports are from ie8 users that they have to refresh to see a sliver of what would normally be a "register" button below the captcha. Firefox on windows users report that the bottom of the screen bounces.
Here is one report that I received:
QuoteWhat I see at the bottom of the registration page in IE8 after much refreshing is a very small button with no label which I eventually clicked to proceed to the actual registration page... for some reason I had to revisit/refresh to get this, originally the Registration page did not show any buttons in IE8 or Firefox to acknowledge the "terms" page and allow one to proceed. Not sure what might be causing this, unfortunatly my knowledge of web page coding is limited. Might just be an issue with teh sizing of the button graphic or the scripting behind it? I am also seeing issues while typing this message - as soon as I hit the bottom of the text box where it should scroll the page is "bouncing" while I type?
Can I ask for a change log of things that you had to do to get this theme "working good for you" since it was released? If there was an "authorized" fix for the captcha how come the theme was not updated with the fix so that down loaders didn't get the same issues reported here? SMF indicates that the lock up of not being able to switch back to the default theme is related to Loner and not SMF itself. If you do not have an authorized fix available then I do plan on reporting this theme as dangerous. I will wait for a acceptable period of time for your reply and code fix before reporting the theme. From what I can see this theme only works because of user corrections on the original code. Taking the stance you are taking is not very commendable considering posters on this thread have done all the code corrections and especially since you reported "good find" to Fernor for correcting the captcha problem. My site is number three on google for its relative search because I follow through on issues and try to help people with a sincere approach. I most certainly don't deflect problems with something I implemented to the nearest scapegoat.
Hi Crip! Great theme the Loner so thanks! I've got a question though: I've installed the Google Analytics package and have added my code to the admin part of the site, but it's not showing up when I try to verify it with Google. Any ideas on this one?
Even I am facing the same CAPTCHA problem as quotaholic , hope a official fix is released for this. Apart from that the theme is top-class !
The Fix I provided is here:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=343003.msg2442272#msg2442272
Screen/shot shows it does work. :) 2.0 version
The information is appreciated however I need to request more clear instructions so that I can try "your fix".
On the SMF theme site there is not one theme in the 2.0 section named "curve" or "default curve". Lots of variants. To which are you referring to?
Searching "curve" reveals a new look for smf 2.0 that I found on this link:
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=293556.0
However it is not described as "default curve" anywhere. If this is the default theme in the /Themes folder then there is another thing that makes your instructions not very clear. No where in the default theme is a file named:
Registration.template.php
I see a file named:
Register.template.php
Is this the file you are referring to?
If not can I please request a link to the theme that we need to grab a "Registration.template.php" from? Either that or upload a working version of the file, or just update the theme.
Thank you in advance
If anyone has this theme working can you please post the "Registration.template.php" that Crip is referring to? Three days after a request for more information and I am still awaiting Crips reply. Would really like to get my site functional again.
Thank you in advance for the support
@Everyone with the verification image problems!
Image verification letters not displaying? There's an easy fix! For just $19.95.....
Just kidding. For anyone who has uploaded the Register.template.php to the Loner theme, you don't need it. Follow closely as the instructions may be confusing. ;)
Open the index.template.php from the Loner theme folder. Remove the 2 empty lines above the <?php. The very first line of the file needs to be <?php.
Be gone whitespace!! Be gone!
</end sleep-deprived humor>
EDIT: For non-believers: http://www.empireofthesun.net/testsite/index.php?action=register
Many thanks SunKing. With the original index.template.php I now have image letters.
The only thing is that the button that gets one to that part is tiny on some browsers and non existent on other browsers. You know, the one at the bottom of the agreement.
Take a look if you have time:
http://webdt.org/index.php?action=register
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the fix on the letters
quotaholic
It looks like the typical "missing language string", but it seems fine on my test site. Go to the language folder for your DEFAULT theme and open Login.{your language}.php and check the top of the file. It should have something like:
$txt['agreement_agree'] = 'I accept the terms of the agreement.';
Hmmm,
In the Login.english.php file I see that exact line as the second down in the // Registration agreement page section.
However in the Login.english-utf8.php there is no mention of this section or that line. Looks completely different. When I set up this forum 8 or so months ago I set it up as utf-8. This may have carried through during the update to 2.0. Is this a section or a line I can easily add to the utf-8 version of Login.english-utf8.php file?
I really appreciate the help, thank you!
quotaholic
You can copy the entire contents of the Login.english.php over to the Login.english-utf8.php.
Just copied over the contents of Login.english.php to Login.english-utf8.php and while it makes a slightly wider button on Opera (mac), I still have the same results on Safari. On linux Chrome the button is a sliver and on Firefox its the same as Opera on Mac. A slight bit wider but not wide enough to hold a word or any letters.
That and it seems that now the buttons across the top header are overlapping. Just noticed it and not sure if this was happening before going back to the original index.template.php. Just noticed that the old template I was using on smf 1.1.5 still shows up in some pages even though I made a switch to loner after updating to 2.0. Still getting errors when I try to switch back to the default theme.
Edit, just found the right combination of things to check that allow the default theme to come back. However reminants of the old theme still exist. Should I delete old the theme folder from the public_html folder?
Edit: erased the old theme from the admin area and things are acting normal. Default theme is working and I am once again with a functional site. SunKing you are a lifesaver, thank you, thank you, thank you. This Loner theme caused two weeks of headaches and completely jammed up my site. Your help has been invaluable.
Edit: I still have a register button problem it seems. Depending on browser its either small or non existent. Even on the default theme. I posted in SMF 2.0 general help as it no longer pertains to the Loner theme.
Thanks SK :)
Anytime. ;D
Is this theme RC3 ready? I was wondering because I don't want to upgrade only to find that I have to find another theme. :D
No it's not , I'm not sure this theme will be updated RC3 ...
Well, I have terrible luck.
Was running Actualism for quite a long time and had to switch for 2.0 RC1 because it wasn't going to be updated, switched to Loner and the forum loves it, so I'm reluctant to switch. I don't want to go back either because everyone's gotten used to the current theme already, haha.
Oh well. I'll figure something out. If you decide to update, I'll be first in line to download.

.If i do updated RC3 it will be much easier for me to use Curve theme as a base and not Core theme as it is now..so the looks will change a small bit ...

You are seriously my hero. I'd given up and was still at RC2. Decided to check back once more just in case.
I don't care if the looks change a bit. You're awesome. Going to check it out tomorrow when I have time.
