IE8.0.7100.0
on Windows7 ultimate.
SMF1.1.10
It is hard to describe this error, but I will try my best:
When your message grows bigger than the message editing box, the box keeps jumping back and forth and on each new letter typed between the upper part of the text and what you are typing. This behavior is NOT seen with FireFox3 on the same PC.
it would be cool if this is fixed because you might hate it, but yes, most of our members use IE8 .....
this is a IE 8 bug
microsoft know about this and are working on this
for now though just turn your compatibility mode on or off

thank you really. This indeed solved the issue. I am surprised that I could in fact describe the issue well enough to let you understand what it is.
I did not think I would succeed
It's sometimes difficult to convey exactly what you mean when it's something like this, but this particular issue is one very, very well known to us, and indeed well known across the web as an IE8 bug that MS are still yet to fix... :(

I really thank you for your kind replies. I appreciate your help.
I am surprised why people still buy vbulletin (with its less-than-satisfactory level of support) when SMF is free....
There will always be those that feel they have to pay for quality products. :)

Especially with the new licensing scheme coming up, it will become more of a surprise, I think.

exactly. The new system looks weird to me, and I personally would not adopt it.
What we must definitely work on improving is a great vbulletin --> SMF convertor that loses no important user data, and keeps the attachments.
Especially now......
