I have installed these mods on my localhost test site using WAMP and SMF 2.0-RC2. The theme used is the default curve and apart from PortaMX there are no other mods.  The mod appeared to install OK, however, all I see is 150 placeholders for the smilie icons.  Since you can not see them I have no idea what they are.  Any idea where I am went wrong.?

Hello,
I have smf 2.0 RC2 and installed Fantastic smileys. But the problem is when i'm posting all the 150 smileys are loading! This is taking time, resources and huge area on the post page.
Is is possible to add a button for smileys. When you click a pop up window will appear with smileys where you can choose smileys.

But i'm really bad at editing codes. When ever i'm editting forum giving me database errors!

I installed Fantastic Smileys from the Mod Site on my smf v2.0 rc2 on 5 Jan  2010.  The site states in large Blue leters, Update to version 1.3. Where do I find this update?  Version 1.0 does not show the smiley icons only their tool tip names.

I did that - it didn't help.  I am running SMF 1.11.  This appears to be the most recent update.  As noted above, it says in BIG BLUE LETTERS, "Update to version 1.3!"

But the information left out of EVERYTHING is that when the smiley set is installed, it's installed in the directory FantasticSmileys which contains package-info.xml and a sub-directory called fantasticsmileys.  The smiley images are inside the subdirectory, so SMF can't find them.  I moved the images up one level, out of the subdirectory.

The smiley images are visible now, but only the ones equivalent to the default smiley set, not all the smileys.  You can't even view them in the "edit smileys" section.

I have checked "Enable customized smileys:" but it makes no difference.

So, HOW do I get my SMF forum to recognize all 150 smileys, and not just the 12 defaults?

Thanks.

I don't know if this will help, but I was having a similar problem.  In "Admin, Smileys and Message Icons, Smiley Sets", I tried picking Fantastic Smileys as the default, but it didn't "take".  After much messing around, I ended up going into "Admin, Configuration, Current Theme".  I saw that "Select default smiley set for this theme" was set to "Default".  I changed it to "(use global default smiley set)" and now SMF respects whatever I choose as the default in "Admin, Smileys and Message Icons, Smiley Sets".

Hope this helps someone.

Edit:  Please note that I'm not an SMF expert by any stretch.  I just happened to have spent several hours today struggling with what may or may not be the same issues that others here are experiencing with smileys and smiley sets.

Is is possible to add a button for smileys. When you click a pop up window will appear with smileys where you can choose smileys.

This function is actually built-in.  Go into Smiley Sets, Edit Smileys.  You'll see a big long list of smileys.  A large number of them will have a message to the effect of "Smiley not found in set(s): default, classic,...".  For each and every smiley that has such a message, check its "Modify" checkbox on the far right (there's lots!).  Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a combo box that says, "With selected:".  Choose the option, "Show on Popup".

Once that's done, when posting you'll automagically get a "[more]" button in the posting form at the end of the standard smileys.  When you click the "[more]" button, you'll get a popup window with all the smileys you checked and enabled "Show on Popup" for as above.

Hello,

For those having the problem with only one page of Fantastic Smileys displaying in the edit smileys screen, I found the following:

-Go to : "# Administration Center »# Smileys and Message Icons »# Smiley Sets"

-Click the "Modify" link next to Fantastic Smileys

-On the ensuing screen between the dark blue label "Modify existing smiley set " and the modification form, there is a light blue box with the statement "There are 131 smileys in the directory that have no yet been imported. Click here  to import them now. "

-Then return to : "# Administration Center »# Smileys and Message Icons »# Edit Smileys " and they should now be present on your edit smileys page

Hey Derby,

Can you give some more info? Were you able to find any message similar to "There are 131 smileys in the directory that have no yet been imported. Click here  to import them now. "

Or

Did you find the message, do the import and it's still not working?

I am using 2.0RC3, I have the file loaded on my site, I read everything and did everything on the post... I only get the "placeholder" and not the smileys. I also noticed it only contains a few of the smilies and some are missing. I got the zip file from the SMF Mod Site, is it possible that the zip file on the SMF Site is the older version and not the 1.4 version? If not I am doing something wrong, but just can't figure out what... I finally figured out my problem.. It was in the php. I ran the Repair php mod. and found one of my links was bad... Fixed it and it works great now.... My problem is solved...

Majoga

somehow, i got mine working. i do believe this has a lot to do with it.

when you see this text exactly as its described, click the word 'here'  it was tough for me to discern also.

my only issue now, i have all the smileys set to open in the pop up, but when i am in post mode, there is no button for the popup window of smileys.

i got it, you have to have at least one smiley on the post form, then it gives you a pop up.

That's covered in the online manual.

which online manual? the mod author or smf?

the smf manual on smiley edits does nothing for me.

the only thing i can gather by the error, is it saying my smiley text is too long, that it needs shortened, or is it saying because i have no colon's in the text it causes error?  if the text is too long, how can i change the max parameters?

You could always try searching the *online manual*, as linked at the top of the page for the error message you're getting...

Can anyone help me? I am running SMF 1.11. and have imported the fantastic smileys and set them as the default for the forum. All the icons show up with the exception of those used in the 'default and classic' , such as Happy, Wink, Chessy, etc...

Can someone advise how to fix?

Thank you!
