Title: Mod Approval
Post by: Dean Williams on November 09, 2009, 05:24:30 AM
The mod approval system on this website sucks, theres not enough people working on it and people like me are left waiting weeks for their mods to get approved!! Whats more people should be allowed to view non-approved mods and maybe help towards the validation process..

I've been waiting for one of my mods to get approved for ages, it hasn't even been downloaded yet :(

We are always trying to look for more people who are willing to help, but good help is always hard to come by.

Also, we are volunteers who have real lives that take priority.

Send a message to the Customise Team (http://simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;u=1) and bring it to our attention.

Mod approval could be sped up slightly, when coding a mod please ensure you follow the SMF Coding Guidelines (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=159824.0) especially with regard to hardcoded text strings, as that is currently tying up the team a lot just now :)

If you're referring to your Live Emoticons mod, I looked at that and gave you some things to change on it. If you have updated them since, please send a PM to SMF Customization Team for it to be looked at.

Please remember it is all done by humans reviewing it in our spare time, nothing more, and many of us have been busy (I'm out of the team due to personal circumstances, for example)

Given that you're only unapproved mod was upload on October 30, 2009, 12:10:52 AM it has been less than two weeks since this was submitted so I think you're exaggerating a little. Atleast four of those days the mod was sitting in the queue awaiting a reponse from you!

I responded instantly and made the changes within 2 days. Now its back in validation. the system should warn validation as soon as it's updated I didnt know I had to PM the modification team. Ive now re-uploaded thinking it was forgotten so waiting for re-validation now :) sorry to moan I just think it takes to long and were all human and were all busy!!

It takes too long because virtually every single mod submitted has multiple errors that we have to review, test and finally report on.

Some mods take literally hours to go through.

And in fact in the PM we sent out when there are issues, the standard wording is "Please can you fix this and then reply to this message in English?" or words very much like that...
