Title: Making a board admin?
Post by: KensonPlays on January 10, 2010, 11:58:07 PM
I have a real life friend on my forum. I would like to make him a admin of his board that I made for him. How do I do this, for this to be the only board he is an admin of? I want him to be able to make more sub-boards, delete them, manage mods of his board. Those are the most important...

...thanks for taking the time to read this and post answers...

((If I have to, I will make a mod request for this, but only if you think it is the type of thing that requires a mod))

*BUMP*

This is required for my forum, as my friend is gonna develop PC games, he is learning the programming, and I would like him to be able to create as many boards as he needs inside his board, but should I make a mod request for this?

Just bring up the members profile and make the changes from Member to Admin. Or you can preregister Member as Admin.
This would be the only forum, he'd be Admin. on. You have to make the changes for other boards. But remember when you make him Admin. he has the same power as you. You may be better to make a new group Co.Admin. put him in there and work the permissions.

not sure if you can do that i have a co.admin who has permission to add or remove any boards but not sure if you can give them control just over one board

There is no feature that allows you to admin just one category or board. However if he is really your friend, surely you would trust him not to touch the stuff you've asked him not to?

If this is not the case, then you'll have to make a mod request

Thanks for these, but wouldn't it be better for a mod for this? Or should I make a Co. Admin membergroup and put only certain pplz in it? (real life friends I can trust)

@H:
Is it worth it for a  mod request for this, if not, I will not make the unnecessary request...

If you consider this to be a worthwhile idea, then by all means make a mod request :)

Ok. Because this would be an awesome mod that i am sure at least some forums will use (any of mine will (on any website, server...))

A Mod would be the best way to go. As Co.Admin.  You can control some of the permissions, but I don't see anyway of just one or two forums.. Look in your permissions and see whats there for you.

I submitted a Mod Request. If it doesn't go through, I will just use my Multiple Forums Mod, and make him a administrator of that whole forum. (if possible)

But a Moderator cannot create, delete, or modify sub-boards of a board, which is what I want to happen...

you could make a co.admin group and assign that to him and give the group this permission
Manage boards and categories
that will be the only admin privellages he will have
if it is some one u really trust i have only assigned someone i really trust to this group

Well, I don't want him to be an admin to all boards,  just make boards in the board I assign him, not anymore than that....
