Title: SRAVC - Separate Replies And Views Column (Fully Hook!)
Post by: Hj Ahmad Rasyid Hj Ismail on May 02, 2010, 04:10:19 AM
Link to Mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2536)

SRAVC - Separate Replies And Views Column

- For SMF 2.0.x
- Fully hook, no file modification For SMF 2.0.x.

1. Please do your own backup though every installation is backed up automatically.
2. By default replies and views are joined in one column in message index page.
3. This mod separates replies and views to two columns instead for easy viewing.
4. All you need to do is turn it on or off in Mod Settings page, save it and you are good to go.
5. You can test it in all SMF 2.0.x lower version as IMO it should work just fine. ;)
6. Do report if there is any error(s).

Thank you for using/testing it.

Yours friendly,
Abu Fahim Ismail.

good.. i have made a lot of changes in my site .. a lot .. really and manually ... after few days i will try to make some awesome mods :)

varun bro .. u must be noticed one thing .. in vb we can use [color="red"] these type of bb codes with " ....... but in smf they won't work .. so the problem is if we want to copy a whole post from a vb forum using quote then the bb codes come with " and this don't work .. so can u make them work ? [color="all colors"], [size="all size"] , [font="all font"]

i think this is problem of WYSIWYG editor , you should ask for this in coding area .

Seriously, this is nothing the hell to do with this mod. This mod makes the message index look like vBulletin's.

If you want to deal with the problem of quoting posts, take this up in the Coding Discussion board - or even take it up with the people who wrote the vB->SMF converter.

You just need to play with some codes in

/themes/default/MessageIndex.template.php

Find:
  // You can see this if you have permission , the right board or admin
            if (((in_array($board_info['id'], $allowed_boards)) || $announcement['id_boards'] == 0) && ((count(array_intersect($user_info['groups'], $permission_groups)) !== 0) || $context['user']['is_admin']))
                {
echo '
<tr>
<td class="windowbg2 icon1 yagam">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/topic/normal_post.gif" alt="" />
</td>
<td class="windowbg2 icon2 yagam">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/post/exclamation.gif" alt="" />
</td>
<td  class="subject windowbg yagam">
    <a href="',$scripturl,'?action=announcements;aid=',$announcement['id_announcement'],'"><strong>',$announcement['title'], '</strong></a>
    <p class="smalltext">', $txt['started_by'], ' <a href="'.$scripturl.'?action=profile;u=',$announcement['author'], '" ', (!empty($modSettings['MemberColorLinkInstalled'])) ? 'style="color: '.$announcement['online_color'].';"' : '', '>',$announcement['real_name'], '</a></p>
</td>
<td class="stats yagam">
    ', ($announcement['can_comment'] == '1') ? ''.$announcement['comment_total'].' ' . $txt['replies'] : '--', '<br />
',$announcement['views'], ' ' . $txt['views']. '
    </td>
<td class="windowbg2 lastpost yagam">
'.$txt['yagam_created'].' : ',timeformat($announcement['date']), '
</td>';
if (allowedTo('yagam_manage') && !empty($options['display_quick_mod']))
echo '<td class="windowbg2 moderate yagam" width="5%"><a href="',$scripturl,'?action=announcements;sa=edit;aid=',$announcement['id_announcement'],'" title="'.$txt['yagam_edit'].'"><img src="'.$settings['images_url'].'/buttons/modify.gif" alt="',$txt['yagam_edit2'], '"></a>
<a href="',$scripturl,'?action=announcements;sa=deleteverify;aid=',$announcement['id_announcement'],'" title="'.$txt['yagam_remove'].'" onclick="return confirm(\''.$txt['yagam_remove_verify'].'\')"><img src="'.$settings['images_url'].'/buttons/delete.gif" alt="',$txt['yagam_remove2'], '"></a>
</td>';
echo'</tr>';
}

Replace the above code with :

// You can see this if you have permission , the right board or admin
            if (((in_array($board_info['id'], $allowed_boards)) || $announcement['id_boards'] == 0) && ((count(array_intersect($user_info['groups'], $permission_groups)) !== 0) || $context['user']['is_admin']))
                {
echo '
<tr>
<td class="windowbg2 icon1 yagam">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/topic/normal_post.gif" alt="" />
</td>
<td class="windowbg2 icon2 yagam">
<img src="', $settings['images_url'], '/post/exclamation.gif" alt="" />
</td>
<td  class="subject windowbg yagam">
    <a href="',$scripturl,'?action=announcements;aid=',$announcement['id_announcement'],'"><strong>',$announcement['title'], '</strong></a>
    <p class="smalltext">', $txt['started_by'], ' <a href="'.$scripturl.'?action=profile;u=',$announcement['author'], '" ', (!empty($modSettings['MemberColorLinkInstalled'])) ? 'style="color: '.$announcement['online_color'].';"' : '', '>',$announcement['real_name'], '</a></p>
</td>
<td class="windowbg2 lastpost yagam">
'.$txt['yagam_created'].' : ',timeformat($announcement['date']), '
</td>
<td class="stats yagam">
    ', ($announcement['can_comment'] == '1') ? ''.$announcement['comment_total'].' ' . $txt['replies'] : '--', '<br />
    </td>
<td class="stats yagam">
',$announcement['views'], ' ' . $txt['views']. '
</td>';
if (allowedTo('yagam_manage') && !empty($options['display_quick_mod']))
echo '<td class="windowbg2 moderate yagam" width="3%"><a href="',$scripturl,'?action=announcements;sa=edit;aid=',$announcement['id_announcement'],'" title="'.$txt['yagam_edit'].'"><img src="'.$settings['images_url'].'/buttons/modify.gif" alt="',$txt['yagam_edit2'], '"></a>
<a href="',$scripturl,'?action=announcements;sa=deleteverify;aid=',$announcement['id_announcement'],'" title="'.$txt['yagam_remove'].'" onclick="return confirm(\''.$txt['yagam_remove_verify'].'\')"><img src="'.$settings['images_url'].'/buttons/delete.gif" alt="',$txt['yagam_remove2'], '"></a>
</td>';
echo'</tr>';
}

worked fine for me.

The problem is that there are colspans in both this (and your other mod) that aren't being updated as well. You're adding a new column but not updating those colspan cells (e.g. for child boards in the other mod, or in this one, for the row above the main content showing who's in the board)

i've tried to separate "author/started by" columns without installing your mod and I got 2 problems:
"started by" not centered and missing block

first problem can be fixed by
<center> ', $topic['first_post']['member']['link'], ' </center>

second problem can be fixed by replacing 6, 5\7,6 6\7 colspans:
<td colspan="', !empty($context['can_quick_mod']) ? '7' : '6', '" class="smalltext">';
<td colspan="', !empty($context['can_quick_mod']) ? '7' : '6', '">
<td colspan="7" align="right">

but I dont think that it is a good idea
my changes:

<th scope="col" class="smalltext first_th" width="8%" colspan="2">&nbsp;</th>
<th scope="col" class="smalltext"><a href="', $scripturl, '?board=', $context['current_board'], '.', $context['start'], ';sort=subject', $context['sort_by'] == 'subject' && $context['sort_direction'] == 'up' ? ';desc' : '', '">', $txt['subject'], $context['sort_by'] == 'subject' ? ' <img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/sort_' . $context['sort_direction'] . '.gif" alt="" />' : '', '</a></th>
<th scope="col" class="smalltext center" width="10%"><a href="', $scripturl, '?board=', $context['current_board'], '.', $context['start'], ';sort=starter', $context['sort_by'] == 'starter' && $context['sort_direction'] == 'up' ? ';desc' : '', '">', $txt['started_by'], $context['sort_by'] == 'starter' ? ' <img src="' . $settings['images_url'] . '/sort_' . $context['sort_direction'] . '.gif" alt="" />' : '', '</a></th>

echo '

</p>
</div>
</td>
<td class="lastpost ', $alternate_class, '">

Managed to finally install the mod with one edit required.

However is there a way to move the avatar so it is next to the text rather than below it?

Also the box with the icons is bigger than I would like.

you must be using some mod to bring avatar's on message index , as afaik it's not a default feature

i think it's same size as of default look.

The page you are showing is the main board index.

The board in question is the message index.

I have attached a pic for ya.
Title: Re: VBulletin style message Index
Post by: Joker™ on July 27, 2010, 01:32:49 AM
1. i've shown you Message Index only (see there is page No. in screen shot )

2. As far as i can see you are having problem in Child Boards Last post section.

Is your theme using it's own MessageIndex.template.php , as on default theme even that section is alright for me.See the screen shot below

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/8191/59307433.png (http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/8191/59307433.png)

It'vd be more easy if i can have your site link and you can give some theme details.

Hi. How can i implement this mod to my theme? Here's the part of the code, that needs to be changed:

// Show some basic information about the number of posts, etc.
echo '
</td>';
if (!$board['is_redirect'])
echo '
<td class="windowbg stats">
', $board['posts'], '<br />', $txt['posts'], '
</td>
<td class="windowbg stats">
', $board['topics'], '<br />', $txt['topics'], '
</td>';

else
echo '
<td class="windowbg" valign="middle" align="center" colspan="2" width="14%">', $board['posts'], ' ', $txt['redirects'], '</td>';

echo '
<td class="lastpost">';

Post by: frozenas on July 30, 2010, 01:22:05 PM
Sorry, forgot to mention:

this code:
// Show some basic information about the number of posts, etc. echo ' </td>  <td class="stats windowbg">  <p>', comma_format($board['posts']), ' ', $board['is_redirect'] ? $txt['redirects'] : $txt['posts'], ' <br />  ', $board['is_redirect'] ? '' : comma_format($board['topics']) . ' ' . $txt['board_topics'], ' </p>  </td>  <td class="lastpost">';
with this code:
// Show some basic information about the number of posts, etc. echo ' </td>'; if ($board['is_redirect']) echo ' <td class="windowbg" align="center" colspan="2" width="14%"><p>', $board['posts']. ' '. $txt['redirects'] , ' </p>  </td>  <td class="lastpost">'; else echo ' <td class="windowbg" align="center" width="7%">', comma_format($board['topics']),'</td>  <td class="windowbg" align="center" width="7%">', comma_format($board['posts']),'</td>  <td class="lastpost">';
In other words: 3rd code.

Okay, i hope i am not annoying you, but the last thing i would you to do for me, is to move the columns like i pointed with arrows. basically just swap the places of 2x2 columns. Also i'm going to bed, try to get some sleep, it's 10AM here and i still haven't slept...

Awesome MOD, though I would prefer it to be labeled  Replies / Views /Last Post , in that order.

I'm sure it can be manually edited like that, though, right?  Or is the image in the first post not updated?

I'll make a copy, and try myself ( i need to learn this smf2 style of coding).  If i fail, I'll send you the original backup copy.  thanx so much for the offer, Joker.  Truly a germ here on smf support. :)  I'll be in touch.

Hello,

I installed this mod without any problem but I noticed that something wrong with the posts and topics count in child boards. See the attached image. It says Posts 65 Topics 343 but it can't be. It is impossible to have more topics than posts in a forum, isn't it? Can it be fixed somehow?

Update:
I got it. ;D This cause the problem:
// Show some basic information about the number of posts, etc.
echo '
</td>';
if ($board['is_redirect'])
echo '
<td class="windowbg" align="center" colspan="2" width="14%"><p>', $board['posts']. ' '. $txt['redirects'] , ' </p></td>';
else
echo '
<td class="windowbg" align="center" width="7%">', comma_format($board['topics']),'</td>
<td class="windowbg" align="center" width="7%">', comma_format($board['posts']),'</td>';

It should be:
<td class="windowbg" align="center" width="7%">', comma_format($board['posts']),'</td>
<td class="windowbg" align="center" width="7%">', comma_format($board['topics']),'</td>';

Just saw the code of Board Hover mod, and it's code are clashing with the code of both of my mods. I'll see and post the edits here regarding the mod in a short while.

I modified the packages a bit, install them in this order

First to last
1 - VB style Board Index
2 - Separate views and replies column
3 - Board Hover

Thank you for the wonderful mod!  I thought I'd let everybody know that when I updated my forum from 2.0 RC5 to 2.0 Gold, I had to reinstall all my mods.  This mod installed without issues and without emulation.  Hope this info helps someone!

if I already have the New_Layout_for_Last_Post mod installed, how do I manually install the Separate Replies and Views Column mod?

Can you help me?

I have that mod as well

I installed Separate Replies and Views Columns first than that and I didn't have to manually edit all the files

if I'm wrong, apologies, but I have both mods and I remember I didn't have to manually install either mod
Title: Re: Separate Replies and Views Column
Post by: Scratching my Head on June 29, 2011, 11:43:52 PM
Well, okay. I should have specified that it didn't have an uninstall, and when I parsed it (to manually uninstal) it
must've been an older version, and didn't have the proper unistall ...and more complications.

The solution was that I just force manually installed it over the New_Layout_for_Last_Post mod, and
it seems to be working fine.

I updated my forum from RC5 - 2.0 today, and I've been updating mods since.

Lots of fun!

::)

And thanks.

You can't as this mod is compatible to SMF 2.0 branch only and I've no intention to backport any of my mods for SMF 1.x.

Just wanted to give a suggestion, not something absolutely necessary.  But when clicking unread posts, or unread replies up in the forum header, they still look the same as smf default set-up.   I know this MOD only edits the Message Index, and the manual edits are actually easy to do.  But just wanted to throw out the suggestion in case you wanted ideas for further updates.

Eric do a simple thing first before I start working on this.

Install this mod.
Using parse guide (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=parse;mod=2625;attach=189935;smf_version=2.0.2) install started by mod manually on your setup.

Skip the common edits in both of the mods. Just give a try ;).

Install "Separate Replies and Views Column"

Make backup of MessageIndex.template.php
Using parse guide (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=parse;mod=2625;attach=189935;smf_version=2.0.2) install "Started by mod" manually on your setup. Skip the common edits in both of the mods while doing this.

I am manually checking the code on default of MessageIndex.template.php and when I find:

', $txt['in'], ' ', $board['last_post']['link'], '<br />

Replace with:
// The board's and children's 'last_post's
echo '<td class="lastpost">';
if (!empty($board['last_post']['id']))
echo '
<p><strong>', $txt['last_post'], '</strong>  ', $txt['by'], ' ', $board['last_post']['member']['link'], '<br />

As reported by dougiefresh in this post (http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=379307.msg3779638#msg3779638), I will remove the code applied by this mod that are similar to VBBIS - VBulletin Board Index Style mod (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2535).

I will upgrade this mod soonest possible as it is in my next thing to do list.

How would I make those centered as well?

I believe it is currently centered in the latest version 1.9.3 (see the attached image)). You can add class centertext, if it doesn't.

That is a custom theme. In that case you need to open SRAVC.subs.php and make changes as follows:
Find two occurrences of this code:
<th scope="col" width="7%">
Change both of them to:
<th scope="col" class="centertext" width="7%">

I will update this into the current version 1.9.3.

Edited: Done inserting the above code into current version 1.9.3.

Sorry. My mistake. It was supposed to be four changes made but I only made two. Try the latest package which I already uploaded. That should cover all four.

Any idea why I'm getting this error every time I go into the topic index?

8: Undefined variable: options
Apply Filter: Only show the errors from this file
File: /home/steve/public_html/forums/Sources/SRAVC.subs.php
Line: 50

That is because $options is not globalized. Thank you for your feedback Steve. Fixed this in the new version.

@Version 1.9.4
- Fix $options not globalize in subs file.

You are welcome and no more errors. Thanks! (https://www.simplemachines.org/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1262.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fii614%2FOPStuph%2Fnewboard%2Fsmilies%2Fourplace%2Fbiggrin2.gif%7Eoriginal&hash=996ee6dcf846ab9f1e45c6a756fe56dc4b026535)

Hey my friend, got something else for you. The background for pinned threads is different between 'Replies' and 'Views'.

In the attachment, the 3 at the top are pinned.

It's minor and not worth fixing if it's a hassle.  :laugh:

That can be fixed but without it being fully hook. :( If you wish to do it, you can simply change a line in MessageIndex.template.php from:
<br />
to:

</td>
<td class="stats ' . $color_class . '"

Note: I think $context['topics'] which defines $topic that defines $color_class need to be re-defined in this mod though $context is already globalized. Otherwise, the right $color_class will not properly be called which results the current situation i.e. only windowbg is called.

Um ... there is no such line in that file.

<br />

Like I said, it's absolutely not a big deal.

There is, if you are looking in the default theme template file. That line was changed via buffering in SRAVC.subs.php.

But, yeah, it is not really a big deal.

Hopefully we can have easy template edit via hook in SMF 2.1 though I haven't seen that possibility yet.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on this. You are, of course, right ... there is break in the default MessageIndex.template.php file. There are 12 of them in fact. :P

Any chance you could point me to the one where I should make the change you suggested? From there I could figure out the other themes but I have no clue where to start.

I would like to make a suggestion on these two mods, if I may.  It seems to me that the "Seperate Replies and Views Column" stuff should apply only to the topic listing in MessageIndex.template.php, not to the sub-board listing, as the sub-board listing doesn't have the Replies and Views columns....  IMO, it should be combined with the VBulletin Style Board Index mod....

I was specific with the code and that includes the tabs count. There is only one of that in default template, Steve. ;D

VBBIS doesn't involve in separating replies and view column anymore and similarly SRAVC doesn't involve in separating posts and topics anymore. If both is needed, then both can be installed with no conflict.

*ahrasis would like to think like that - no conflict*

Ah, my bad  ::)  Reread the changelog and finally caught that one.  Whoops....

One suggestion/request: Please add an option so that we can get rid of the "replies" and "views" text from the columns.  By that, I mean instead of showing "0 replies", just show "0".  IMO, it would make it look a lot better.  It would also make me want to install it  :P

You know that would be as easy as removing its $txt. And yes, I will do that in the next update.

This is from my /home/steve/public_html/forums/Themes/default ...

The code is in there:

<td class="stats ', $color_class, '">
', $topic['replies'], ' ', $txt['replies'], '
<br />                                                       <-= This is the code you are looking for
', $topic['views'], ' ', $txt['views'], '
</td>

That line is changed so they become:

<td class="stats ', $color_class, '">
', $topic['replies'], ' ', $txt['replies'], '
</td>
<td class="stats ', $color_class, '">
', $topic['views'], ' ', $txt['views'], '
</td>

But I modified the file for you anyway. Attached.  ;)

I haven't tested this mod for quite a while. However you should uninstall and try it on a freshly installed forum default theme. If it's working, then the problem lies on your theme rather than the mod.

Does this mod work with BlackRain V2? I'm trying to get the posts and topics in 2 separate columns but I'm not having any luck. This mod works perfect on the default theme, but I can't get it to work on BlackRain V2.

I would very much like to have the feature which this mod provides.  However, it doesn't seem to be working.  Screenshot attached of before and after (same thing sravc1.png).

In a recent reply in this thread, it was mentioned that the problem might be in a theme.  The theme in the screenshot is Aqua Style.

However, even the default SMF theme (Curve, I think) it doesn't work.  2nd screenshot (sravc2.png)

Also, I use Tiny Portal.  If you need to know other mods, I could list them all (around 40).

Thank you very much :)

Oops - my bad!  Looking at the wrong page.  The mod is working as expected when the board is opened.

Sorry for the noise  :-[
