Which theme are you using,if not curve, then try it with curve,to see whether the problem is your theme or not

It would be good,if you would attach a screen about your problem

What browser are you using? I have experienced alignment issues with one of my forums in an older version of IE.

Hmm, have you made any recent changes or have you obtained modifications that possibly modify the posting alignment? If so, have you tried clearing your cache?

Just a hunch, this...

If you disable the Default Avatar mod, does it make any difference?

Soooooo...

There's some file, in the core theme, that's different to the file in the default theme that's causing this...

I'm thinking "Display.template".

I really couldn't explain why, though.

Just mentioning on my way out that another member had weird alignment issues with a custom theme and had me take a look at it today and her issue was, in fact, 2-SI Chat.  Maybe just a coincidence.

Unless you use Ad Management and you've got an ad somewhere that's causing it.

Hmmm... GB might have something, there.
