Title: SMF & Mambo newbie
Post by: marlyred on July 05, 2005, 06:11:52 PM
Hi,

I am running mambo with no user login on the front end as it is a company site with static content which only I as the administrator can edit.

I have now installed SMF, the smf mambo component and the mambo-smf bridge module and do not understand how the forum login works.

How do I set it up so that users can register and log in to the forum, but not in to the rest of the site?

I hope you understand the question, I am not sure I do :)

by registering in SMF with the bridge installed, a user is also registered in mambo...  that's what the bridge component does...

If you want a completely static mambo with no user info at all, then you don't evcen need the bridge, you can just install SMF and access it using the wrapper.
However, if, possibly in the future, you may consider using mambo for more than just a wrapper (like, perhaps other mambo components), then you should install the bridge and use the bridge login. That way, users will be registered in both mambo and SMF... even if they don't actually need a mambo login at the moment.
