Title: Possible security issue: numerous failed attempts to login from different IPs
Post by: SilverLining on January 04, 2011, 11:07:22 AM
Hi,
Since I'm having another SMF issue I went in the check my error log and discovered that in the past few days there's been numerous failed login attempts on both my own and other members' accounts. These appear to be coming from many different IP addresses and in fairly rapid succession after one another. Is this something that one can expect to happen because of bots and so on or should I be worried?

You got any modifications added? If so please name them.
You added any new Bots manually?.

No mods atm (trying to sort out these issues before adding any) and no bots/spiders manually added. I have had a problem with spam/junk accounts registering but I added some "verification questions" which seemed to solved that recently. I'm running the latest version of SMF.
