Post by: desibees on April 02, 2011, 07:47:51 PM
Hey.

How do to the following for guests and members.

Guests:
Normal screen 100% width.

Members: about 75% width and a sidebar gets added at the rest 25% width

In the sidebar:

Less likely to get help, bumping your post less than 24 hours.
Also note the mod you link to has its own support topic, you can find it by going back to the link in your post and click "Support and Comments for this Mod"

You would have to tweak with the theme, witch is not easy if you don't know what you are doing, if you know what you are doing it will be not very hard, but still hard.

The easy way would be to use Simple Portal. You can create blocks and hide them from guests.

I'm warning you, if you mess up doing something, sometimes there's not a way out. ;)

there is always a way out... you can reinstall all your files also if you did a backup there is a way out to restore the backup.

please stop giving false/wrong information to users that dont know better.

there is ALWAYS a way out as long as you have your database. you can always reupload a clean set of files and all file changes are fixed.

that is why we are here to explain if issues arise not to tell them off hand if you mess up you have no where to go and you lost everything.

Basically, the best advice to give ANYONE, before they start farting around with mods, themes, files, etc. is simple.

They can do whatever they like.

Delete files, kill Martians, anything.

As long as they backup EVERYTHING, first, they're gonna be OK.

So, in essence,

is total bollox, to use a technical term. ;)
