I am getting several folks tell me they have registered on my forum, get a welcome email but when they try to log on the get a error saying that user does not exist. I do have 8-12 new members each day with not issues.
I am using 2.0 RC5 have added no new mods in the last 60+days and made no changes in weeks. I only have a very few restrictions on user names.
Any help would be appreciated.
Anything in the error log?
not that I can relate to this problem. I know what most of my error in the log are from and they aren't critical and I'll fix them when i have time LOL
this is something that I am not seeing. but I have a some questions back to those who reported the issue to try and find more infor like the name they registered with, the ip etc.
just thougt i would come here and see if anyone may already have knowledge of this issues.
i would suggest you try upgrading to 2.0 that way you have all security patches. it may also fix this issue in the process as you would have clean files.
I thought about that, but have not had time to read about it. Afraid all the mods and/or databases that are working so well may not afterwards and I would prefer to know up front. If I knew it was a straight up update and would not disturb my existing things I would do that.
almost all mods that work on rc5 will work on 2.0 with version emulation, as long as you have a backup of your files and database there is no risk to upgrading. Upgrading SMF (http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Upgrading)
Thanks for the info. I think, I'll try that,
Btw, I just went and registered one of the accounts that said they could not and had no problems. so whatever they are reporting is ghosting, likely on some other issus.
Thanks for all the advice folks.
