Version: 2.0.1
Description: I don't want guests to be able to do anything except login or register a new account, and I don't want them able to see anything else about the forum.
Permissions: Guests must login or register to see or do anything regarding the forum.
Feature Set: A nice looking and small login/register box centered in-front of a black background is something like what I am looking for. I don't want them able to see anything else. Also a noticeable place where I can put a message telling them why. Thanks!
Hi, Agauos!
Welcome to the ol' forum!
Admin>Features and Options>General.
UNcheck "Allow guests to browse the forum".
As for the register box, have a look on the mod site.
I believe there's a "Floating" one, there.

Edit: That mod is almost what I am looking for. I want it to mask everything except the login/registration form. No header, no footer, no banner, nothing. Just the forms.
Quick question: I demo'd SMF 2.0.1 on another website and when I unchecked "Allow guests to browse the forum" and logged out, I was still able to browse everything unless I manually clicked the refresh button on my browser(only then would it tell me I needed to login). I'm using Google Chrome. Was that a bug?
I'd imagine it was your browser's cache. :)
Until your refresh the page, you're still as you were, kinda thing.
So nobody knows how to do this? I thought it would be simple. Not simple enough for me to do it though. Something like: If guest, then hide everything except login/registration forms. Anyone?

I think he wants ONLY the form, nothing else at all, is that correct?
That is correct. Just the form, I don't want the guest to even know it's a forum until they register or login.
Ah, I wouldn't do that, if they don't want to register for a forum, they shouldn't need to. At least tell them that. That will make them more likely to get themselves INVOLVED in the forum, then when they find out never log in. Just a tip.

Haha I know it probably sounds weird but I know what I'm doing. I found an alternative solution to this, however. Since none of the 200+ people who viewed this thread have the slightest idea how to make this modification. So my problem is solved.
