Title: Portal on subdomain as forum
Post by: mruz on February 02, 2012, 08:30:50 AM
Hi,
Is there any chance to run portal on subdomain if forum is also on subdomain?
portal.example.com
forum.example.com

I know if forum is on example.com then I can run portal on subdomain, but what I can do if forum is on other subdomain?

I turned on in admin panel use cookies independent of subdomain. Cookie is .forum.example.com, but I need .example.com or is there any other option to run it?
I need it for log in on subdomain.

Regards,
mruz

if you already have picked out the portal mod you want to use you would be best to post in their support thread so they can help you.

You can do it. Turn on subdomain independent cookies in SMF admin panel

I turned on, but it works for subdomain of forum (like porta.forum.example.com), because if I turn on this option cookie is: .forum.example.com, not .example.com, and don't work for portal.example.com

SimplePortal is capable of moving itself away from the main SMF base.
That means, it has a mode so you can place the portal somewhere else.

http://simpleportal.net/index.php?action=docs;area=set_up_standalone_portal
Read that and you are good to go :)
